OT: Movies/TV Shows

Finished Sandman. I enjoyed it, but as it was so faithful to the comics (aside from obligatory race-swapping as per current TV standards) compared to some other recent high-profile adaptations, I wonder if I would like it more without having read them. On balance, hoping for another season. And that Sturridge eases up on the resting duckface a bit.

I was super pumped to see that when it first came out - first scenes between De Niro and Pacino ever!! - but left kinda underwhelmed. I think it got too hyped up and couldn’t live up to it. Very good movie still.

I'm all caught up on the Saul progrum. Very rarely does a television show get better with each season but Mr. Vince Gilligan has done it twice now. What a lovely show.

Not even gonna bother with the breaking bad vs Saul competition thing. They're wonderful. And zeke should get to watching breaking bad.

If you're looking for a good movie to watch on a lazy day I recommend this one. Seen it several times.

You're welcome.

I think I've figured out the problem with Michael Mann flicks - he never quite gets the soundtrack right. Films look great but he either gets the soundtrack wrong or doesn't understand how important it is - the soundtrack could give them a nice energy boost but never do.

Like how do you do Miami Vice without realizing how important the right soundtrack is?

Soundtracks are probably 40% of Tarentino's brilliance.

Especially when you consider the question of who didn't own this (LP) album during the heyday of the TV show?:

Producers tend to skimp on money for music score. The great movies and shows pay for the good stuff.

Doesn't need to be hits. John Carpenter wrote and played all his own soundtracks and they were massively important in his films being awesome.

Look at the Jaws theme. It's nothing musically but without it the movie literally doesn't work.
