OT: Movies/TV Shows

Doesn't need to be hits. John Carpenter wrote and played all his own soundtracks and they were massively important in his films being awesome.

Look at the Jaws theme. It's nothing musically but without it the movie literally doesn't work.
Well music sets mood and not everyone has the capability to write their own hence Hollywood pays. You get what you pay for usually.

True but you can buy a bunch of hits and it still won't work as a soundtrack for that particular film. You can hire morricone and still get a dud.

Some people aren't good at their jobs. Music directors included.

Like HP said, it is what makes Tarantino Quentin. Spielberg and Lucas too, they both understood the importance and hired John Williams.

Yeah and Tarantino really doesn't even get well known music for his movies. Most of the time it's obscure stuff so it's probably quite cheap... But it's always amazing.

Succession song is great but opening is too long — have time to pee, brush my hands and fix myself a cocktail

Haha
Autocorrect is taking the piss

Btw, saw Louis CK last night.

Loved it! But his act is less crisp now. Probably due to less reps and being isolated.

Finished Sandman. I enjoyed it, but as it was so faithful to the comics (aside from obligatory race-swapping as per current TV standards) compared to some other recent high-profile adaptations, I wonder if I would like it more without having read them. On balance, hoping for another season. And that Sturridge eases up on the resting duckface a bit.
Thought it was great. So many cool and interesting stories.

And Dream King needs to lay off the twilight face

I’m still sick of fish boy in The Boys. As if the character and actor weren’t bad enough, they came up with a crazy boring B story to devote to him.

You also see TV shows where I think many (all) only license to use the "period music" for a limited period of time; so that years later on various streaming services (or the prehistoric days of DVD box sets), you'd get the music replaced by some generic stuff:

Example (Tour of Duty):

Original

You need a segment on Habsy's podcast, 80's TV nostalgia.
