OT: Movies/TV Shows

So is Last of Us getting way overhyped for being about as good as the 2nd or 3rd season of Walking Dead?

I mean, it's not bad. I'll keep watching. But from the response I definitely expected more.

I don't have any memory of those seasons of walking dead. Always found that show a bit terrible, to be honest.

Definitely enjoy this Last of Us more. But, it's two episodes only. Will keep watching for now.

Also, no idea about the video game, so for me the story is fresh (well at least as fresh as a zombie apocalypse story can get).

I am hoping Lucky Hank delivers. The novel is great.

Just from reading the part that you can get for free there, it seems like it really should be 2 issues - you can complain about whatever the people did to get Risebrough's nomination, and you can complain about the lack of nominations for the black women. But unless if the campaign to get her nominated explicitly called out the others, to me there's another bunch of nominees that also could have been "snubbed" to get those other women nominated.

Well, I don't really remember the different season of TWD either but that was before it got really bad at least.

But mostly I think the first few episodes of TWD were pretty awesome and kinda groundbreaking for TV at least, and i'm not sure I can say the same about LoU.
 
What makes Last of Us any different from the past zombie and end of the world fare we've already seen, that it's got so much hype?

Viola Davis has been nominated multiple times and has won an Oscar. this was someone trying to get her friend a nomination it seems I feel very confident it has occurred before. To jump into it being racist seems pretty loony to me. Risebrough has been a very underrated actress for a long time. They could not have possibly known who would get bumped even if it worked.

the one thing for sure that it gets really right is the cool new completely viable explanation for how zombies can actually happen. that's golden.

but then again, that's it's one big departure from the game, and most people seem to love it because it's so much like the game.

Yeah I think the first season was like six episodes and they were great. Then Frank left, and it turned to poop.
 
I really liked Your Honor S1 until it dragged and became more contrived like halfway through.

Didn't think it was really something that warranted another season, feels like it would be tiresome.

But I will probably give it a shot at some point.
 
Last of Us is good so far. Didnt play the game and haven't watched one minute of TWD so this is fresh for me.

Just caught up to The Old Man as well. Two great actors that mesh well and a decent storyline
 
Watching The Dead Don’t Die because I saw Bill Murray is in it, and I don’t fucking get it. Just a bunch of people wandering the city in a sudden zombie apocalypse and slicing heads off. How do they get this shit greenlit?
