OT: Movies/TV Shows

Django Unchained hit my top ten like a bullet though.

I wish Django was two movies….cause I coulda used another hour or two of them just riding from one old western town to another, bounty huntin’

…as great & necessary as the plantation & candyland scenes are, it’s kinda more an out and out Tarantino movie then. (Which is still great)…

more of Django & Dr. Schultz in an old timey pulp western like the first half hour or so…

Gimme that, and a full season of Bounty Law in black & white….and I can leave this mortal coil, a happy man.

...and for all this “I’m retiring after 10 movies” thing. Yeah he’s gonna write novels, but he’s also just going to turn all his ideas into high end mini-series, for whoever pays him the most.

I think we may get just as much on screen Tarantino content after his retirement, than we got prior to it.

you had to have liked him in Dumb & Dumber tho, no?
Not really. I just don't like the kind of comedy that relies on making faces primarily or gross out humor (and I think Jeff Daniels in that role is painful to watch).

That said, I do like the more dramatic work. Liar Liar is a genuinely good comedy, but my other two of his that I like are The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine (and that one not even so much). I didn't even really love Cable Guy, but I literally only saw it once in the theaters a million years ago and think maybe I'd like it more now if I rewatched it. I can say The Mask was entertaining, but I don't know what else of his I really ever enjoyed.

It's like being shocked that someone doesn't like westerns. Or sci-fi. Or fantasy.

Jim Carrey's specialty is making faces and often gross-out humor. That's not good comedy to me.

Kinda agree with you here, but there’s not a chance I’d admit it out loud.

you’re not fooling anyone….you just like seeing lawyers in movies.

You really do exist just to troll zeke. 🤣

Exactly, contrasting opinions are important.

I like to have shitty diner coffee from time to time, to remind myself of just how brilliant the coffee I brew at home is.

Similarly your dog shit taste, really points a spotlight on just how goddamn sophisticated & cultured my taste is.

Your posts are good comedy sometimes, even if inadvertent.

It is refreshing tho….interesting hearing such a different opinion from the norm, especially since he’s always willing to explain exactly why he feels that way.

Now that you mention it ya, like that he sticks to his guns. Can get funny at times.

Jesus, not liking a particular actor's work warrants this level of outright attack?
