OT: Movies/TV Shows

yeah tbh never seen 13 days, Open range, for the love of the game or Highwaymen. never heard anything about them to make me think they were worth it.

13 Days - Ode to JFK.
Open Range - Ode to Wolves/Silverado/Earp.
Love of the Game - Ode to Field & Durham.

none as great as the others….OR & LotG in particular might be a bit sappy or overly sentimental (seem to recall both love stories being corny)….but still enjoyable seeing him in those genres again. Sometimes a good actor in his lane can just be a great hang, even if the flick isn’t mind blowing.

for me Costner as a ball player or cowboy, achieves that.

13 Days is awesome, but his character is fictional and at best an amalgam of some real life people, he’s also got a terrible accent, but once you get past that it’s a great flick. Bruce Greenwood plays JFK and is great, and the guy playing Bobby, is great as well.

yeah bruce greenwood as JFK definitely rings a bell. I've seen it. just didn't make a huge impression.

BTW, I raved last year about the Costner film-Let Him Go. See it! So underrated. Western-like. Gripping and Diane Lane is so damn good in it. His best film in a long time. I have no idea why it didn't get more buzz. Lane should have been an Oscar nomination lock.

Then, way, way down on the list, is this 1983 made in Canada by Canadians piece of shit that the producers somehow managed to convince Costner to star in. I remember seeing it on video in the late 80's. Boring as fuck and Costner is less convincing as a French Canadian than Lawrence Olivier was in "49th Parallel" (although that movie is still a classic)

I dated a girl who's dad produced that. He had posters of that film all over the walls of their house.

Haven't seen it but is at as "good" as Costner's accent in "Prince of Thieves"? (though I'll have to admit I still didn't mind that movie at the time I first saw it in the theatres):

I think that's what I liked about "The Death of Stalin". Rather than trying to do bad Russian accents, many of the actors just used their "normal" English voices as it might've been too distracting.
