OT: Movies/TV Shows

Also, Chappelle spent an entire show complaining about how hard it is to do his job these days because trans people are sensitive and combative

Save the workplace whining for your friends.

I want to hear jokes, bitch!
He has spent 45 specials bitching about trans people. No one has stopped him. He's the sensitive one for whining that people are reacting to his hate speech.

I love the cognitive dissonance involved with some people who think guys making $25M a special are getting cancelled

Bitching is easier than writing new material and turns out to be a great business model

He's a funny guy and remarkably talented, he should stick to making jokes. His specials are just him making comments now, not being funny. It would be almost fine if there were jokes somewhere in the trans stuff or even if he left it at just one special. But he's unwatchable now. I couldn't do his last special. Never thought I'd say that about him.
His unabashed antisemitism kinda sucks too.

I don’t watch his shit anymore.

Chappelle is still funny. And the trans and Jewish jokes work because they ring true. It ain't discriminatory if it's true. It's just facts. It's not anti-Semitism to notice that Jews control a lot of things in the entertainment business. That is objectively true. And it's also true that a lot of trans people and their allies have no sense of humor or any ability to be self-depreciating.

And it's also true that Dave in a coma is still funnier than Hannah Gadsby is on her best day ever.

Even if I agreed with the trans stuff, as the great Norm MacDonald once said, your reaction to a comedy bit should be laughter and not nodding your head and saying "yeah that's so true" or applauding. A real comic hates when an audience claps their hands instead of laugh. Dave's tranny stuff is not comedy; it's just agenda pushing, which as zeke said, is what he's going for. Dave is a very funny man and doesn't have to rely on those tactics to put on a show. But he does because he wants to and it's not stopping him from making tens of millions of dollars so it is what it is.

Making money moves, just like those Richmond Hill pot shops.

I love Gosling, but I don't know how he got nominated for anything there. Barbie was pretty much unwatchable, and I want to marry Margot Robbie and will watch any Gosling film. I slept through maybe a quarter of it, and the rest of it was painfully bad. Was there a story there? I couldn't believe this intensely popular film was so awful. I was expecting something great.

I thought Barbie was hilarious. Way dumber and funnier than I was expecting based on the critical reception, good and bad. Movies like that don't usually get nominated for oscars though. But they should. South Park, Borat and Team America also should've won.

didn't think it was all that dumb tbh.

but then again neither were South Park, Borat, or Team America, so I get what you;re saying.

to be fair I don't know if Barbie deserved a best pic nom but i can see the argument. I actually see more reason for a best director nom I think.

and to be honest for a Barbie movie there was a whole lotta Ken, especially in the last 1/3, so the filmmakers probably sabotaged themselves there.

Frankly calling the Ken role supporting is pretty egregious
