Yeah I have a couple of friends who were huge into those games. I tried but they're just too complex and (mostly) too time consuming. You have to be a bit of a no-lifer to be really good at them. One of my buddies used to host gaming weekends where people he knew online would come from hundreds of miles and they'd spend an entire long weekend playing different games in different rooms all through the house with almost no time allotted for sleeping. He had a personal collection of these games that would have put most hobby stores to shame.
Of course, I'm sure the fact that he later became a crack and heroin addict in his late 40's is purely coincidental.
