Even though I’m agnostic and was brought up Protestant, there is something about the genre of films centered around the Catholic Church that just makes for banger movies…..First Reformed, Doubt, Spotlight, Two Popes…..loved every one of them.
Watched
Conclave last night and thoroughly enjoyed it….ending was fine, but just didn’t quite live up to the tension built throughout the flick…..still had a blast watching it though.
Lithgow and Tucci were perfectly good in their roles, but I did think it would have been a better film if they’d found
the next Lithgow & Tucci for the parts, as the history of their performances (and in Tucci’s case, becoming a Internet personality)…..kinda took away from the tension imo, instead of adding to it.
….they fit the roles so perfectly it came across feeling rote.
Still, I loved the film….Ralph Fiennes was perfect as always, Rossellini was great and kinda deserved a much bigger role, imo….also really enjoyed the performances of the other key Cardinals.
…..left the film wishing it was longer, or even a short mini series, cause it was just a real engaging thrilling watch. Loved it.
