OT: Movies/TV Shows

Long before the "Slap", I hated Will Smith. Never found anything about him appealing. But Gene in Enemy of the State is fantastic.

Enemy of the State falls apart a bit at the end but the bulk of the movie is pretty great and yeah absolutely holds up even though you'd think the tech would seem dated by now.

That is what fame can buy an actor: creative control.

In his long career, Humphrey Bogart made a lot of shlocky films (like "The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse, with Edward G. Robinson in 1938, to name just one) but he did them so that he could eventually gain what he described as "fuck you money". Once he had that, any film the studio sent his way that he didn't want to do he just said "Fuck you. Not doing it."

By the time Seven rolled around a guy like Hackman could pick and choose not only the films but the conditions under which he would agree to work. He earned it.

i think i recorded it off TCM maybe. they did a night of Gene movies a few weeks ago and i recorded all of them.

Just learned one of David Letterman’s favorite films is ‘Scarecrow’ with Hackman & Pacino….thats another i haven’t seen.

I think I watched it years ago but not sure.

I started watching it last night, got about a 1/2 hour in and got tired and went to bed. Probably watch the rest tonight.

It seems familiar but I don't know what's coming next, so far anyway.
