Jason Bateman was terrific.

I also think you don't see a lead character shown in that light like what is later learned about him.

The story has been done many times before. But it was still very well made.

Hanks is truly a gem. I saw Bridge of Spies last week as well. It was fantastic. Spielberg and Hanks are a amazing combo.

Captain Phillips dropped on Netflix so I was rematching it, the last ten minutes of that film are an example of Hanks at his finest. Especially after he is rescued. It seems so real.

Hanks is sort of like Meryl Streep in that they are so good that even if the movie is poor, their individual performances are always top notch.
 
Yeah I was glad to see capt Phillips on Netflix. When he went in shock was so good. His Boston accent went away a bit but nothing major. I was once in a car accident and the shock didn't hit me until I got home and talked to my family. It was really interesting to watch that part

Yes it was, I found myself getting short of breath just watching him, seemed so life like.

The part when they were just about to kill him was what got me. He knows that the Seals can hear him so he is talking his family and begging for them to help him. Such panic in his voice.

Narcos is terrific, for sure. One of Netflix's best series' so far, which is saying quite a bit.

Also, I finally got around to the latest episode of The Walking Dead. Have to say, I'm not too surprised. (highlight for spoilers)

The moment that Glenn decided to let Nicholas live, after he left Glenn for dead and then followed that up by outright trying to murder him, you had to figure that was going to come back and bite him in the ass. The whole overriding theme of this season has sort of been all about peoples' idealistic decisions coming back to screw them over hard.

Highlight:
The overwhelming consensus seems to be that Glenn isn't dead. The theory is that Nicholas fell on top of him and that's what the walkers were eating.
 
Yeah, I've heard the theories, but I don't buy them.

I think it's just faint hope for fans of the show to hold on to until (highlight) undead, half-eaten Glenn shuffles up to one of the gang before this season is over.
 
I really liked Narcos....and it's a perfectly good show, no question. But having read 'Killing Pablo' years ago by Mark Bowden, it's not quite as eye popping for me as it would have been had it been all new information for me. The book is so damn good it's just very tough to live up to.

I kind of found the quality of the show itself to be a bit average in its writing/acting/execution as well......still a very very fun show tho, a really damn good 7.5 or 8 out of ten for me....but just kind of falls short of that epic HBO-level of quality that we can sometimes get these days.

Fargo tho.....is a goddamn masterpiece for me tho. For anyone who enjoyed Narcos; but hasn't seen Fargo.....highly highly recommend it.

There's so much good tv out there right now, that it's hard to find time to watch it all....but Fargo is the rare show that after each viewing I'm left wanting to rewatch it all a second time, just to milk every bit of symbolism/philosophy/storytelling out of it that I can. There are just so many layers of brilliance to it that I can't get enough of it.

Living up to the quality that the Coens put on the big screen was a seemingly impossible tall order (imo).....ditto living up to the high water mark that season one set.....but Noah Hawley is pulling it off.

It's everything I hoped True Detective would be.

He won't be half eaten. The walkers were eating Nicholas who was on top of him. Something will draw them away from the scene in time to save Glenn.

I'm leaning, about 75% that Glenn is alive.
