OT: Movies/TV Shows

@Preston - Finished Norm's book earlier today. I read the first 95% of it in five minutes, but then couldn't get back to the last 20 pages till today. Anyway, what a weird read. Parts of it were funny, but a lot of it was awkward. Totally his voice in there, but without his delivery and expressions and pauses, not that satisfying. And having that dorky sidekick as a character throughout, I think just to insult him, was both funny and kind of odd at the same time. I think it was a missed opportunity to tell his real story, which probably would've been fascinating. I wish there was some real version, where he'd actually go in detail about things, that is sitting in some publisher's vault with instructions not to release for a few more years. I think you read it too?

It got worse ya. The whole vicker thing. Trying to show how anyone can become a murderer, was tedious.
Yeah exactly. The stupid thing is, they could have written in a couple of things to make his decisions more necessary. He doubled down several times when the far more reasonable moves would have been so much better for everyone involved.

It was also explainable, call the cops
Yep...
I was saying that up until the end. Like, call the cops and explain everything. He did some shit, so he probably gets in shit. Maybe even a bit of jail time. His "solution" gets people killed and has everyone thinking he's a pedo and a murderer, and he spends the rest of his life in jail. Like da fuq??

Exactly. Whole premise was stupid. I did enjoy some of the banter between Dillon and Tucci but that was it. Sometimes even that felt forced a bit too

It would make a decent TV show premise though. Just stop with the British melodrama that makes no sense.

Yeah, I couldn't quite buy into Dillon being comedy relief when he was such a monster. It felt like they were going for a sillier Ed Kemper from Mindhunter type character. Problem is, Kemper was based on a real character and his lines were almost verbatim from real interviews. It wasn't some poorly written schtick.

EVERY CHOICE THE LEAD CHARACTER MADE WAS ABSURD, EVERY DAMN ONE
The succession of events which led to the math tutor going from the vicar's office to handcuffed in the basement strained credulity. And then in attempting to cover up afterwards the vicar tells lies in situations where the truth would have actually worked better for him. The characters were smart when the plot required it, then dumb when the plot required them to be suddenly stupid.
