OT: Movies/TV Shows

they just can't make this version of the Ellie character appealing or interesting no matter how hard they try. And man are they trying.

The last episode was weird that you see Joel was alive straight away. Then the episode didn't really conclude... Didn't show Riley die, or Ellie realizing she was immune, didn't show much of what was up with Joel at the end.

Just sorted ended with a meh

I took it as a filler episode. Walking dead had them too. I mean I did not learn much that I didn't already know prior to that episode.

Truthfully this was Ellie's backstory episode. We know most of Joel's story - was a soldier (perfect for surviving post-apocalyptic hellscapes), lost his daughter to a frightened soldier, and has worked as a plug with his hardened (now dead) partner and he has PTSD plus doesn't want to feel anymore.

We have been told some of Ellie's history: got bitten in the mall where she was not supposed to be (the Fireflies probably came to check on Riley and found Ellie), doesn't have any kin, and grew up in the FEDRA schools.

She has lost everyone she cared for, and here is a father figure dying right in front of her, gives her an "out" (Go back to my brother with the alive horse) and we think that she just might.... flashback - "let's die and spend all the time we have left together.... we are still alive until we aren't".... so that we understand why Ellie will not leave and fight with/for Joel.

Plus it was a sweet episode. The kind of episode that Station Eleven would have made (and maybe mid-run Walking Dead).

For the game it was an download add on. So it was even filler for the game

Is it though? The best episodes have been about the people, not the apocalypse. This is not Dawn of the Dead or even The Walking Dead. I think there will be more "the monsters are people" episodes, and some jump scares (it was a game after all) but I think we want to know the motivation of the main characters than just a mow them down/ evil people show.

Exactly. They have even removed a bunch of runners and clickers from the show.

In TWD the zombies weren't the monsters either
