OT: NFL thread

If the NFL only allowed players with no assaults, criminal records etc to play, there would be 5 teams.

If what he is alleged to have done he did, then Hardy is a monster but I also think the press singled him out far more than they did others. Hell, players in the past have killed people and they were ripped less.

Anyway, I am not really buying the Hardy was late line. If he was and was never benched, then it shows Garrett, like most coaches in the NFL, doesn't care what you do as long as you can ball. He cut two scrubs for not wearing a suit to some team event citing a breach of team rules yet he had no issue with Hardy being late. The hypocrisy of taking such a position is beyond description. At least guys like Jimmy Johnson was honest about the hypocrisy. He cut Curvin Richards for napping in a team meeting. He was asked what if it were Troy Aikman who fell asleep, Jimmy said, I would have wakened him up.

Cowboys soured on Greg Hardy for Perpetual Tardiness to team meetings

Beating up women was fine, being late to team meetings was the problem.

This should come as no surprise to anyone. The only thing a team, any team, cares about is the next game. They don't give a $hit about how many women the guy beats up from Monday to Saturday as long as he doesn't miss practice, doesn't sustain any injuries while administering the beatings, and of course doesn't get arrested. As long as he's in uniform on Sunday ready to play that is truly all that matters to them. The lip service they pay to other things is just noise. It's the same approach that teams and leagues take toward the concussion issue. They're all for more safety, just as long as their player doesn't have to miss any games to achieve it.

Isn't that the genesis of the Tremblay-Roy feud? That Roy felt Tremblay was not applying team discipline equally? Ironic since Roy himself was treated differently than the other players and didn't seem to mind the special treatment.

You have me on that. I thought it was because Tremblay was crapping on everyone including Roy and Roy liked the fact that Demers basically rimmed him all the time.

And as usual the yellow hankies get help when needed most. Their coach is on the field getting into it with Bengal players and no call. The headshot was a def 15 yds but Pacman's was a typical yellow hankie freebie.

Burfict was 15 yards, but what about Shazier on Gio Bernard earlier in the game. I get that he's a runner and not a defenseless receiver, so I'm not arguing that... but you still can't lower your head and go crown of the helmet into the facemaks.

I don't like Steelers but can't say I feel sorry for Cincy. They fumbled the game away and then commit two of the most ill timed penalties in the history of the game.

Three players decided to commit suicide on behalf of the entire team.

Porter is being fined for going on the field.

So even the league agrees he shouldn't have been there.... but that doesn't change the refs decision.

It should have been offsetting.
