OT: NFL thread

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

This will be Peyton's last chance to salvage his legacy. If he wins he's golden. If he loses he's forever known as the guy who couldn't win when it counted most.

I think the Panthers take it, when all is said and done.
He'll end up with same number of SBs as Favre if Broncos lose. Do you see Favre as a guy who couldn't win when it counts?

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

One game, any give Sunday. I have no idea.

But I wish the Broncos to be a smouldering wreckage by the end of the 3rd, with hillbilly glumly watching the last quarter of his career tick away in total humiliation.
Are you still bitter over two weeks ago?

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

So which one is it... do we judge an individuals legacy by whether or not his team won or by how he performed as an individual. You seem to be arguing both ways as peyton also had many great games his team has lost

Performance by a mile , its great for team titles but you cant knock a HOL`er in any sport cause he has no titles , makes no sense .

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

I trust you will say that should the choir boy take the Seahawks back to another SB?

If the Seahawks were not my team, I would probably say that as well. Peyton had three SB appearances already, I'd rather cheer for the guy that will be there for the first time. Football being what it is, Cam might never have another chance at it.

I judge them based on whether or not they perform in clutch situations. Anyone can pile up stats during the regular season but when your playoff record is 13-13 and your only championship came in a post-season during which you performed at a mediocre level then you clearly are not clutch. For Peyton to save his legacy he has to win convincingly today. He has to be a difference-maker in this game because he was really just a passenger in 2006 and his last Super Bowl against the Seahawks was abysmal.

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

I hope Denver wins, but I think it'll be a one-sided game in Carolina's favor.

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

Peyton has been chucking more mid range passes since he came back, instead of the Brady like shorties to move the chains as he did earlier in the season. He may well have something in reserve for this game. I'm not writing him off quite yet.

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

The Superbowl is the only three hour period of the year where the American ads are more tolerable than the Canadian ads.

Re: OT: NFL thread (Superbowl 50)

The problem with the Canadian ads, aside from the fact that the sponsors don't go to any extra lengths to produce special ones for the occasion like they do in the US, is that only about 3 companies can even afford to buy air time. So not only do you have to put up with lame commercials but you have to watch the same ad over and over and over.
