OT: NFL thread

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

Where are all the stories about Rivers choking away the game, that he can't win big games etc?

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

Count..gimme a break. You love all the attention your favorite teams get. You can recite weekly tv ratings and jersey sales for both the Cowboys and the Habs (or as you like to call them: America's Team and Canada's Team) yet you get upset when their poor play gets some attention.

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

He does care about the balance sheet more than any fan I know.

Even a fan of a parasitical team like you has to agree that the criticism Romo gets is far beyond that which any other QB ever receives for doing similar things. Rivers at least is eating some this am but I shudder at what twitter, facebook, BSPN and others would have written about Romo if he fumbled that snap last night. It isn't just that he is a Cowboy QB, previous ones were never roasted the way he is. It is just inexplicable that he is ripped constantly for things other QBs also do with impunity.

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

So what if the masses have decided to be hard on Tony Romo? Popularity is a cruel beast and is not always explainable. Personally, I love watching Romo screw up.

Can I explain it? No and why should I bother?

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

Count cares too much about popularity.

Rather be dead than cool.

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

Only the uncool think that way.

I have to admit, i do not like the cowboys, but looking at it objectively, yes romo get criticized more then many qb's in his position.
Rivers, week after week is spoken about as the second coming, and week after week he is blowing games. The fumble this week was not criticized enough.

Another qb getting the short end of the stick is tim tebow. while i am not his fan (i'm an fsu fan, so obviously not too fond of any gator) but the kid has been blasted more then any qb having 1 or 2 starts in the league. Now what he will become god knows (no pun intended) but looking historically he has not done worst then many many new qb's heck manning/ellway and aikmen were brutal their first year.

I don't think he is roasted anything more than another QB in the league except for the fact that it is the Cowboys we are talking about... high profile job.

Something is wrong in Dallas. Either he is still hurting big time from the ribs injury and can't throw the ball past 10-yards anymore or Jason Garrett has no faith to allow him to throw the ball that far. The Cowboys have one of the best receiving units in the league and it won't be long before Dez Bryant explodes... a la Terrell Owens, causing him to be dealt to another team and Jason Witten isn't getting any younger.

Either Garrett is not a good coach or Romo isn't capable of taking this team far but something has to change. You can't replace Romo with anyone better anytime soon so he is the guy but you generally need great QB's to win the Super Bowl, not good ones.

Re: OT: NFL thread 2011

QB is Dallas is like goaltender in Montreal. Everything gets over scrutinized.

It will last until Romo proves the skeptics wrong, which he hasn't been able to do for many seasons now.
