OT: Politics & News... Have at it.

Furthermore...

Lowering middle class taxes, but increasing spending doesn't make sense in today's reality.

Someone will have to pay for this....or, all those promises about spending in infrastructure will quickly go down the drain

You mean people are stupid? Who knew?

The way I saw it was that I have no kids so I didn't get Count's $2,000 bonus for the little menances. My wife and I don't income split so I wasn't getting that treat from Harper. Why not take Justin's cheque for being middle class considering inflation is over-taking my wage increase each year. It's time I get something out of this... even though I wanted the Conservs to win because I do believe in fiscal responsibility but Harper was handing out perks to everyone except me. Now it's my turn. Gimme money.

Great way of summarizing it :)

For me, all 3 parties would have (in some way) benefited my household..Whether on personal taxes (Liberals), or corporate taxes (Conservative, NPD). So it would have been a wash....believe it or not.

But I tend to believe in fiscal responsibility....and I don't trust the NPD in doing so. As for the Liberals, we will have to take their word for it, and wait until year #4 to see if it's true....unless they call new elections in 2019 right before they can run a surplus. That's politics for you ;)

Interesting that 308 was so far off.

Ekos must have thrown off the numbers. Nanos was first to report the LPC surge and even they underestimated it.

10 years is often a killer for political leaders. Harper, Chretien, Gordon Campbell in BC... you really get the feeling that younger voters don't feel part of whatever the leader for 10 years has done and they want something different.

How come the young voters in Russia, China, North Korea, and Cuba don't feel the same need to change ?

The only way Harper was able to "balance" the budget was to refuse to fund programs that he spent money advertising. You can't run ads talking about all these great programs (like the Canada Action Plan, to name one) and then not give them any money just so you can keep it in the bank and say "Voila! We balanced the budget!"
