OT: The M-Fing Food Thread

one of my favourite scuba experiences was my night dive in Utila. early on in the dive we found a Caribbean octopus doing its thing. The octopus was bizarrely brazen and unfazed by us and allowed us to observe it for nearly 30 consecutive minutes. never before happened in the life of our DM at the time (or mine).

never happened since either. they're usually quite shy. but absolutely magnificent. you can literally see them change colours and camouflage in real time. so cool.

That's spectacular. Lucky lucky dive.

I've unfortunately accepted that much of the best diving of my life may already be behind me. The reality is that we are destroying our oceans and so some of the highlights of previous dives may simply no longer exist. It really sucks. But I will continue to dive and be disappointed if the other option is not to dive at all.

Good example is the Great Barrier Reef. I was there in 2011. Pretty sure most of what I saw is now bleached and dead.

All this professed love for diving, you sound like Alex Burrows.

Vacation foodin’. Went to a place that grows oyster mushrooms - bought some harvested just that day. Amazing, simply sautéed with new onions. Also, it sturgeon season, so we had it fresh and processed into rilletttes. And of course the new potatoes are available now. Yum.

So much for trying everything once.

Because I was pressed for time, I just had a Chick Fil A grilled chicken sandwich, and it was one of the worst fast food experiences ever. What a shit product. What the fuck are all these people standing in line for all day? I didn't even eat half the sandwich it was so bad.

Long live Harvey's.

It’s because Chick-Fil-A’s chicken sandwich is made with hateful Christian fundamentalism, as opposed to Harvey’s chicken sandwich, which is made with love.

Love...but, regrettably for some I'm sure, no discernable flavour or redeeming qualities

Their chicken sando was easily the most overrated fast food item I've ever tried. Was spoken about in reverent tones...and it was just a passable fried chicken sandwich.

Better than the McChicken or that abomination burger king serves I guess, but that's being damned by faint praise.
