OT: The M-Fing Food Thread

Thing about carbs is they 'fill you up' and then they make you hungry again because you're metabolizing glycogen which constantly needs to be replenished.

I find the kelp noodles do the trick. It's a fair point though about the satisfaction that comes with pasta if you aren't fat adapted (which takes at least a few weeks at very low carb). Your body will likely be expecting an insulin rush.

Your mileage may vary. I don't get hungry for a while....
I dunno, as I haven't eaten a plate of pasta in quite some time. But when I'm not fat adapted, I get hungry about every 4-5 hours. Fat adapted, I can do a full work out and not be hungry for a day.

It varies by individual but usually 2 to 3 weeks sub 50 grams/day should get you fat adapted. Once your body adjusts, you don't need to keep it that low to remain fat adapted.

How long did you go "off" for?
at least a year?

when I worked at the butcher shop my diet was essentially fruits, vegetables, and meat. there was a long stretch where I had meat three meals a day. ironic as I'm now mostly vegetarian.

and just for clarity, it's not like I was consciously anti-carb. I just generally phased them out of my diet. so I'd still have the odd burger bun kinda thing.

I think you need to be pretty mindful of carbs to get them sub-50 gms/day. They're in piles of unsuspecting places (e.g., milk, fruit, juices, etc.). Still, with what you describe you should get fat adapted. It's very noticeable difference in my experience -- like, I can go long stretches without food without thinking about it, no pangs of hunger after a workout and the like.

Didn't plan out my food beyond Thursday. So, prematurely grabbing one of those prime ribs that's dry aging. Brussels and sweet potato. All washed own with a Barolo.

You might find the kelp noodles a bit crunchy. The trick to soften them is to warm them with the sauce for a good bit.
