OT: The M-Fing Food Thread

your cooking technique probably isn't your problem; but sourcing stuff as fresh as what you were having over there is pretty much impossible

that's the one thing I remember fondly about my trip to Greece; none of the food wowed me technically, but it felt like every fish I ate was alive 30 mins ago, and every veggie side dish was picked that day. Hard to compete with that.

Yeah I'm not a huge seafood fan, but buying fresh from the municipal market in vallarta opened my eyes to what it tastes like when it was swimming a few hours before.

The tourism industry is going to be fucking electric once travel becomes safe again. Lots of folks are about to go balls deep and make up for lost time, that's for sure. V-shaped recovery!

on a personal level, this will be kind of frustrating. we’re going to see a massive amount of inflation in the industry as the whole world crams into every flight and accommodation

Oh yeah it'll be fucking chaos. Loose plans but I'm not looking at going anywhere overly touristy for at least a year post safe travel life. I may stick to more local NA travel for the first year or so because the trip I was planning in Italy pre covid will be a fucking gong show post-pandemic.

for sure, I will avoid the greatest hits. Might hit South America before Europe. putting off Japan until after their Olympics

My travel will probably be 20 km down the road to finally see my friends from our aqua fit group. If we are brave, lunch
in a real restaurant.

Grew up by the coast. There is no way to replicate quality. There is decent freshwater stuff in Canadian Shield territory, but need to be right there.

Don’t mind zeke. His “If it’s not Sicilian, it’s crap” take inspired one of Mike Myer’s most well know SNL bits.
So it’s ok when Zeke does it but not okay when anyone else does it, then it becomes a tweet posting storm.

Kind of double standards.

We’re talking food, right? The riffs, mine included, should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt and some light heartedness.
