OT: The News Thread

Watching the news reports of the scope of the damage done and to the danger so many people faced and possibly still face is very unsettling.

My daughter and her husband had been visiting family in Kelowna and had planned to drive home to Vancouver the day all this started so of course I was very concerned until I finally heard from them. Fortunately when I finally heard from her I learned they had decided to stay an extra day so they were not on the road. They were without power for day but safe.

They left their car in Kelowna with the in-laws and flew back to Vancouver today so I can stop worrying for now.

This is just an unbelievable and tragic story (5 parts). This girl was so brave to finally go out and try to get help, I can't even imagine how hard it must have been.

This is one of the craziest stories ever, those 5 segments (linked above) are worth watching. 13 kids were removed from an insane house of child abuse 3-4 years ago, which made international headlines at the time ... and eventually relocated into various living arrangements where (drumroll please) they were abused and abandoned again. Heartbreaking ... and yet they are still going strong.

Their story has gone viral again and I can only hope they get the help they need this time.
