OT: The News Thread

Yeah, the series gets weirder, denser and more esoteric the farther you get into it. Though I still loved it all, since when I really get into a great author’s fictional universe, I tend to devour every scrap of content I can get my hands on.

Pretty happy to hear this, cause I would like to plow through it all so long as a certain level of quality is maintained
And if you do get to the end, you also have to prepare yourself for the fact that it ends on a mysterious and confusing cliffhanger that’ll never be resolved, since Frank Herbert unfortunately died before he could finish the series.

Ending with some ambiguity is often the best resolution to an art piece anyway, tbf.

But the self-contained story in the first three books does at least wrap up pretty well by the end of book three.

👌🏽

I'm easily the most articulate poster on this board.

I don’t say this to mock, or ridicule…only to inform. If you genuinely believe this, you have an enormous self-awareness blind spot.

….and that’s coming from one of the most admittedly unintelligible, inarticulate, sloppy writers on this board. I can’t write clearly to save my life, but at least I’m aware of it.

Watched Silo on Apple and I really liked it. Will probably read the books now.

I was worried that it would not provide answers to the mysteries but it did.

Am I weird for hoping that Presto is the alt and he's really been Gordo the fetish weirdo this whole time?

(I guess I mean a different fetish weirdo....)

How the hell do people think it's me? I get why people think I had alts (I haven't, but I get it) but it was already proven that Gordo ain't Presto.

Yay, feeback loops!

The climate & resource wars should be pretty dope, though.
On the bright side, Florida will become uninhabitable for human life...sorry, I meant more uninhabitable than it is already, and for reasons of actual climate rather than merely political climate.

That’s not really a bright side though.

It’s best for the rest of humanity if FloridaMan stays confined to his natural habitat. We don’t want them emigrating out to areas with normal humans because their fever swamp has become uninhabitable.

But that's just it. Like the dinosaurs they won't move. They will stubbornly stay because no woke, namby-pamby science guy is gonna tell them where to live. They get nailed by hurricanes every year and they still don't move. By the time the penny drops for these dummies their feet will melt into the asphalt and they'll be stuck there.

Been nice knowing ya

yeah it's been an absolutely brutal spring/summer weather wise out East.

April had no fucking rain, which led to the fires in May. Then after the fires, it's been fucking pissing rain ever since. To the point that strawberries are rotting and going mouldy in the fields cause of all the moisture.

Oh, and did I mention our near daily relative humidity that's usually at least 80% and often well into the 90s?

And if the sun does come out, we have a humidex of 35+.

Now I know this would be normal shit for Toronto but part of why I moved to Hali was cause it was a milder and more tolerable climate. Was doing the heavy lifting.

Makes the like 35 degree dry heat in the Okanagan seem really fucking nice, in hindsight.

Anyways, I'm just bitching at this point.
