OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Yeah, I read this story earlier. PG is almost as quiet as Kawhi, Beverly is an asshole, Montrezl is 25 and a bit of a hot head, Lou isn't leading anything other than a caravan of limos to the strip club. PPat is a gud pro and all, but he's the 11th man on the roster, nobody gives a fuck what he has to say.

We had really good veterans on that team to insulate Kawhi from needing to be a leader. Kawhi turned into Leader Kawhi in the playoffs apparently, and was more vocal, but we had Lowry, Serge, Danny during the bulk of the season, added Marc to that group at the deadline. Just a solid group of veteran leaders in the dressing room.

Sigh, these Athletic links. Not interested in paying for journalism. I have three or four guys on this board who are better.

And I may not know anything about basketball, but journalists? ? Know them all too well. They all end up being hacks at the end of the day.

Cept a very few.

Maybe someone should start a thread on who the top five sports journalists were/are.

I am going to posit Milt Dunnell myself

That article is a mess that never really makes a point. And since when do we care about shit like veteran leadership?

The Athletic is by far the best sports journalism website ... it's not close. And veteran leadership is still important, no matter how much you may want to pretend it isn't.

Ax... I don't like getting links I cannot read. Just me? I bet not.

I am sure the Athletic has its merits, but hey, a lot of us don't subscribe.

This does though underline something that team Canada fans get cranky about unfairly though.

Secure.The.Bag.

Powell skipped Team Canada duties last summer and people were pissed off at another unpatriotic NBA player not fulfilling his duty. Well, the motherfucker in question was in the middle of negotiating a contract at the time. Powell ended up signing a 4 year, 43 million dollar deal that should secure his financial future for the rest of his life if it's managed properly. 6 months later, his ability to gain another NBA contract at the end of this one is legitimately in question. Careers are short and unpredictable, secure that fucking bag and don't take unnecessary risk until it's secure.

Oh I understand this one 100%. Guy from my neck of the woods played for the national team for years. And I believe it was 2012 he got hurt. Anyways long story short he still hasn’t been repaid by Canada basketball insurance for rehab for an injury sustained with the national team.

Raps defense is just a work of art.

My faves here are the 4D chess by Gasol at 3:45 and Lowry at 7:30.

Wiggins time in Minny should be coming to an end but that contract will be hard to trade. What a bust. Don’t want his ass anywhere the 6ix.

Robert Covington said Ryan Saunders was angrier than he’s seen at halftime of this game. Said he challenged Wiggins at halftime.

actually looked like he was turning a corner but it was just a blip.

don't even want that guy to play for Canada tbh.

Signing or drafting Canadian players to the Raps, is the new "gotta have Tarana boys on the Leafs". Makes a great story, but should never be a reason to sign or draft anyone.

in fairness though, Wiggins was seen as a legit franchise prospect at the time. That he was from Toronto was just a cherry on top for most I think.

Wiggins was a legit prospect. No doubt.

The sucker in me says that we should make the move for him. The motivated and driven Wiggins was on full display to start the year. Maybe just getting out of Minni would do him good. Still only 24 years old.

His contract would effectively take us out of the Giannis sweepstakes.

Masai is a god at this point. If he made the move for Wiggins i'd blindly believe he truly sees something in him.

If we were rebuilding, I'm interested in seeing what he can become. But yeah, this recent slide of his and what seems to be the reappearance of his bitch like ways, definitely scares me off.

He definitely needs out of Minnesota though, and needs to be somewhere with good vets that can keep him focused and inline.

Sounds like us.

Easy to move money in the NBA , that contract is moveable like other big deals ....Paul , Westbrook , etc...

Never had the motor or will to match his skill

Yeah. That's what makes his career arc such a disappoint.
