OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Thought they were classic canadian choking not once but twice but that's an amazing clutch performance in one of the most important canada games ever. That was awesome.

Now for next year. We need.
Murray, Wiggins, Sharpe, Boucher, etc.

To Minds point SGA is built different. And so is Jamal Murray.

Yeah, they've struggled with size at times in this tourney. Need boucher and Clarke definitely to round out the 4/5 to the best of our ability.

But definitely, bring all of the athletic wings...fucking all of them. Watching Shaedon or mathurin go off for 30 in a medal game would be our coming out party as a basketball power

Murrary Sharpe Dortz
SGA. Mathurin. RJ
Wiggins. Brooks
Powell. Boucher
Olynyk. Clarke

I mean that leaves out NAW. But I think you gotta take Dortz over him. Some could argue him over sbarpe/mathurin.

NAW is back of the rotation junk imo. He might turn into a passable 3&D guy, decent enough to have around in the program for when better guards aren't available, but not part of our best 12. With the age of our guards and wings, NAW is just going to get pushed further and further down the depth chart.

Canada has two great players but it's really iffy after that.

Wiggins is at least legit starter quality but not great. But the rest are all bench fodder at the moment, and not particularly great bench fodder.

Olynyk is pretty much a must-start still thanks to size and shooting but he's never really been a really good starter and he's getting old now.

I would probably lean towards Clarke as the 5th starter but that's no lock and would leave us undersized.

Ideally around wiggins and murray we'd be able to have some big bangers up front and some lethal 3pt shooters outside to complement them, but we really don't have either. It would be nice if mathurin or sharpe became a good 3pt shooter but i won't hold my breath on that. Hell if NAW shows last year's shooting was legit then he should be in.

It's iffy, but it's deep in talented iffy.

We've had a few guys really struggle with their shooting for a few years now despite showing above average shooting earlier in their careers (RJ & Brooks) and we have two kids who look like impact scoring wings in the making (Shaedon has top 10 player in the league upside imo, Mathurin has championship #2 type scorer upside imo) and by the olympics those 2 could be huge fixtures for us and pass the RJ's, NAW's, and even Wiggin's on the offensive depth chart.

We know what we're going to get out of the NBA vets and it's a really good group compared with what they're going to run into other than the US, it's the 2 wing kids that can put us over the top though and will determine if we're "just" a medal through, or an actual gold medal threat.

Fwiw, if those 2 kids break out and can provide the dynamic offensive threat that we've been relying on RJ to be (and he's not being it), I would be very nervous if I was the US running into this group in a winner takes all gold medal final with Dort matching up on their best scoring guard and all the hyper athletic wing scoring we have behind SGA & Murray dragging their massive brass nuts around with them everywhere.
