OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

The best teams in the league have 4-5 guys who can get their shot off even with elite scorers leading the way.

We don't have any elite scorers our only chance is to get more scorers in there.

We already have defensive specialists poelt and barnes in the lineup. How many do we need.

I think Zeke is fan girling a bit too hard on Gradey. He had a really good stretch in late Oct-early Nov but has scored more than 16 once in the last 7 games and has shot 34% over that stretch. He's one high scoring game was shooting 7 for 20 against Miami but getting to the line a bunch. The kid isn't a feature scorer yet. Shooting .421 on the year, .346 from outside. Let's chill here.

Nah. Boston has 4-5 guys who can get their shot. Everyone else balances their starting lineup. GSW has Draymond and TJD in their starting lineup. OKC when healthy will probably have iHart & Dort. The wolves start Gobert and McDaniels. Cleveland starts Allen and Okoro, the Knicks start Hart and OG.

all those teams have much more offensive talent in their starting lineups than the one you're proposing for the raps.

And they all defend way better than the one you're proposing. I don't want to build an Indiana or Sacramento here.

for once in our history wouldn't it be nice to have actual scoring talent all over the court.

Sure, but call me when Gradey is good. Not when he's good sometimes, but actually good. BPM has him as a 73rd percentile offensive player which is fine, but a 2nd percentile defensive player which would make a matador blush. BPM grades him as "decent starter or a solid 6 man" offensively, and an "end of the bench player" defensively.

He's just not as good as you want him to be yet.

We're comparing him to Ochai Agbaji who is only positive at the moment because he's suddenly shooting 45% from deep on volume.

and because he appears to be actually good defensively.

Ochai was a lights out shooter in college fwiw. It wouldn't be strange at all for him to shoot 40% in the NBA.

Also fwiw, both BPM and EPM have Ochai as better than Gradey right now.

most likely we'll look back in a bit of an embarassment at the idea that a team could be good starting Ochai.

Nah. He's good. Would be better if we had a bigger, better 3&D wing but he's fine until we're a playoff team again.
