OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

I think Masai has done a good enough job post-Kawhi to position the Raps for a Dame trade…..but not well enough that you should be overly optimistic about the future if you pass on it, and just sell OG/Siakam for assets.

I dont see Dame as the Kawai get on my back win a title player .

If Jimmy Butler can do it for an otherwise lesser Heat…..Dame could do it with this Raps supporting cast, imo.

I’d be pretty bullish about a Dame led Raps versus a soft-as-charmin Tatum led Celts too.

Yeah, the time to go for it is now. I would rather go hard now and suck later organically when DameScal decline and their contracts are albatrii than tear it down without trying and suck now anyway.

Always take a swing if its available

1000%

Especially as the Raps, when we can’t carry the confidence other franchises can that stars will force their way to you. Opportunity arises to make a move like this, you can’t pass up shooting your shot.

Hard disagree on this.

Dude has never had a player that even belongs in a contenders starting lineup out there with him before and he's still dragged them to a couple big playoff wins just due to the sheer weight of his nuts
yeah, I'm not Dame's biggest fan by any measure but he is exactly the kind of big nut shotmaker this team has been missing since before and after Kawhi. Raps are actually an intriguing fit for Dame... (only if we can acquire him without giving up anything of any real value, of course)

According to a copy of the lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan and was obtained by ESPN, the Knicks state that Ikechukwu Azotam, who worked for the Knicks from 2020-2023, sent the Raptors thousands of confidential files -- including play frequency reports, a prep book for the 2022-23 season, video scouting files, opposition research and more -- after the team began recruiting him to join their organization in the summer of 2023.

Canada obliterates France at FIBA2023 opener. Wow.

We're a real gud basketball nation and have been for a while now but because we've disappointed internationally for various reasons, just playing to our talent level is going to be an eye opener.

And...we've got maybe half of our best team at this event. Murray, Wiggins, Mathurin, Boucher, Clarke, Shaedon all not on this roster.

With that said, this roster has a legit elite NBA scorer at the top of it with a good group of professional glue guys around him to defend, rebound, and play good team ball. At this level, RJ & Brooks are probably a good enough secondary scoring to at least make the semi's

Fwiw....tournament format.

- Top 2 in the group make the next round, we were pretty much guaranteed to do that before today. Now super likely to win the group outright. Would take a few shocking results to not.

- Move on to face the top 2 out of group G which will probably be Spain & Brazil. Spain is 1st in the world and always play better than the roster reads. This is the post Gasol era though. There just isn't a lot of depth of talent there anymore. The Hernangomez boys are probably their best 2 players ffs. Brazil is technically ranked ahead of us, but we should deep dick them as well. Spain would be the coming out party though, whether it's a paper tiger ranking or not. These games still count towards our original group rankings.

- Win the group (Us, France, Lebanon & Latvia) and face the #2 team from Group L (likely either Brazil or Spain....probably Brazil) in knockout quarters.
