OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Werent they really good at the start of the season and have been steadily slipping since?

Yeah, they were like the league's #1 bullpen in April, but bottom 5 in May. Just need one or two more even slightly reliable arms to bridge to Romano.

The bullpen is so bad that it's managing to waste what has been a downright competent performance from the starting staff. Spots that could/should have been clown shows in the rotation have come up Millhouse. Basically wasting Ray, Stripling, & Matz's ressurrection from trash to solid and a professional enough bunch of outings from Manoah.
which I would not expect to continue, likely some regression coming*

Agreed. There is plenty of regression to come, and it’s likely not going to be pretty. They can add an arm or two but the group will still be very bad overall. Trades or not, this is the high point moving forward IMO.

Add another quality starting pitcher, 2 more BP arms and this team is going to be really good. I said it before the season started but this team isn’t THAT far off. Certainly not as far off as some of the negative nancies in this thread will have you believe.

Why haven’t I seen any of you bring up the Pythag record this year? Ahh yes it doesn’t quite fit the narrative in the thread.

Well, they have figured out that a bullpen got worse after losing Julian Merryweather, Ryan Borucki, Rafael Dolis, David Phelps, AJ Cole, Thomas Hatch, Tommy Milone and Carl Edwards to injury, so maybe #MensaIce has some detective skills.

Did I miss something or are any of those guys any sort of reasonable combination of durable and good? The answer to a bad bullpen isn't more bad pitchers.

Some of you guys are weird.

I’ve mentioned their expected record. It’s literally on the MLB standings front page, no need to scroll. Hope that brings some comfort.

The pitching staff is jokes. Yet people are surprised when the bullpen give up runs. This must be what it’s like to see super optimistic, Jim Benning-loving Canucks fans. “Pessimism will not be tolerated!! Just a few unexpected injuries from contention! Trust the plan!!!”

It’s a 75-80 win team. So what? If you’re an actual fan, you can still enjoy games like today. No need to try to rub it in to skeptics every time they win a game.
