OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Legit baffled how Payamps and Castro both get sent down over any combination of Saucedo, Thornton, Kay or Murphy?

I get needing one long man ish, so, keep one of Kay/Trent, and i guess i understand they see something in Murphy...but this jobber LHP?...also, isnt Davis still up?...I really hate Charlie

Kay was great yesterday.

He has good stuff, but hasn't quite harnessed it. Common story for a young LHP.

Decent chance that he us the best piece they got back in the Stroman trade, just like when they traded Boyd and Norris and the under the radar guy is the only one that is good.

Apparently in addition to the money he earns from the Mets every July 1st, Bonilla also has a second deferred contract from the Orioles that's paying him $500K per season from 2004-2029.

Dude really liked that particular financial planning strategy.
No one loves Canada Day more than Bobby Bo.

Maybe we have some fip-busting skills on our staff but imo we've probably been pretty lucky pitchingwise this year, but haven't taken advantage.

Meanwhile even after a fluke bad April, our offense is back up to legit elite on the year, in both wrc+ and in run production, as expected.

This discrepancy in FIP and ERA somewhat explains their great run differential. Too bad they weren't able to bank some more wins. They'd actually be in the 2nd wildcard spot by X-W/L.

I'm shocked to see he's as old as he is. For that kind of talent showing through right now, to only have 77 career wins, so odd.
Unusual road to the top, but he's as dominant right now as anyone I can ever remember.

deGrom has an interesting contract situation. One more year at $35.5M then he can opt out or stay for another year at $32.5 plus a team option for $32.5. He'll be opting out as a 34 year old pitcher, but if next season is anything close to the last 4, I guess that's what he is going to do. Someone will probably give him 5 years and $200M or something silly.

sooo what's going to happen to Trevor Bauer? gotta think (hope) he is placed on administrative leave prior to his next start...

Yeah, timing works out fairly decently that they can can him for a week, and then that takes you basically right up to the ASG break, so they have almost 2 weeks to figure out more.

Of course, MLB certainly does not always do the right thing, so hard to say what they will do.

Ehhh...

While technically correct, the 2nd in HR in MLB in 1919 had 10. Ruth finished the season with 29.

The league average for team HR's was 30. Boston had 33 HR on the season, Ruth had 29 of those 33 ffs. 4 teams in the AL had fewer HR's than Ruth by himself.
