OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Espinal and Panik are both below replacement level hitters. Espinal had a good game, let's be happy for him.

A series win against the Rays. Feels like it never happens.

Who else thinks it is time to call up Kevin Smith? He played SS and hit third yesterday, went 0-3 and his OPS fell to .970. I think he has earned a look.

They really better seal this sweep. Finally healthy lineup and favorable SP matchup. This is the opportunity to jump right back up to TB in the standings and give us a shot at a WC by the break.....or we get knocked backed down and need sweeps later on in likely less favorable circumstances.

Yes to Smith. He had one down year in AA but he's back to mashing at an elite level and still young enough to be a real prospect especially given last year's non-season.

But right now Espinal is hot and he's one of this FO's guys so I doubt they make the move yet.

Smith should be up before the end of the season, but there's no real need for him quite yet. Springer still seems to need a good amount at DH, so they probably need OF backups more than IF backups. Maybe he'd be better at 3B and than Cavan would get more corner OF times, but I don't mind sticking with Cavan+Lourdes at the moment to see if they can get hot.

Biggio is hitting .297/.403/.516 in the last month. He is officially hot. Gurriel is starting to look better as well, but hasn't sustained a good streak yet.

Tough to do anything that takes ab's away from cavan or Lordes right now. Cavan had a 157 wrc+ in June, gurriel a 130.

Both are just good hitters that were slumping early.

One guess who I think should get less AB with Springer in every day. This gentleman hit .232/.251/.413 in June.
