I'm more inclined to believe Shatkins will miss out on Ohtani (and now Soto) and to get some good coverage they'll go get Joey Votto.

There is zero chance they pivot to Votto as the big add, there's not alot out there but there is way more better players than Votto.

This is a good signing and a guy i would have been interested in if we were a team that did not have aspirations of winning.

He’s right that LAD is the place to be if priority #1 is winning. Ohtani will make the Jays more competitive, but the Dodgers are already great. They’ve won the division every year Ohtani has been in the league except once when they finished second with 106 wins. The Jays have one second place finish in that time.

So it’s still very unlikely IMO but it would be the ultimate sales (con?) job if they can pull it off.
