OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Fanduel has pulled the line it seems. I am working blind now.. But on last check it was like a 43% to Jays and 54% to Dodgers split.

Is that their fault though?
Not whatsoever, but do you really think that will stop the masses?

There will be conspiracy theorists who wont call the pursuit genuine, or that they only were willing to spend on Ohtani cause business and get mad they didnt spend 200M on Cody Bellinger ( they shouldn't)

No no no no.

Totally disagree with this take. After a decade on the job they have not earned this.

Will earn it only if they get the signature. Pivoting to Chapman as Jonas stated would be a major failure and they should get a new GM.
Defense or Proscecution rests ( i dont even know what i am anymore)

Rogers dumped the fucking NHL deal to try and get this done. Everyone here deserves credit for trying

I will join the pro Shatkins brigade if they are under attack for whatever comes next. That is unfair IMO. Criticize him for the last decade, sure, but not for narrowly missing out on a generational talent and having to fall to a plan B. They are putting in a valiant effort here and that is all his harshest critics have ever wanted for the last 10 years. There is no sweet spot of shared risk in a move like this, folks.

They lost plan B to the Yankees.
I mean yes, but one could reasonably argue that Plan B of Ricky++ for 1 year of Soto is a flat out bad decision. A decision i would have done mind you, but also, very bad. This is of course also assuming SDP liked that potential package more than the NYY one. The fact they traded Soto before Shohei signed tells me they did not.

Youll have my axe in this defense.

Up until a week ago, I would have put the Jays odds of landing Ohtani of halfway been zero and zilch. So if they lose, I don't fault them for that.

If they lose, and sign a dud plan C or plan F, then yeah, I can fault them there. But if they pivoted to a decent alternate choice in a trade, ok, we're not in a worse spot than we all assumed we were in not long ago.
