OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Pay Vlad and Bo.

Use the money we clearly should have available and fix the roster. Bellinger to LF. Chapman to 3B. Martinez to DH?

I think that’s probably the best way to make the roster better without gutting the already middling Farm system. The defense stays intact. Some good upside for all 3 of those bats offensively.

Want to sell some of those suites for the upcoming season? Be serious about the roster. If I see Espinal or Biggio (or equivalent) starting at 3B next season you won’t get a cent from me.

Ohtani interest was a business decision, not a baseball one, and his deal would have been deferred just like the one he signed in LA

There is zero chance that the money set aside for him is set aside for other players this offseason.

At best they can bring in one of Chapman/Bellinger, and everything i know about this FO tells me they are terrified of paying Bellinger 200+M for his super soft contact. I suspect anytime you see us linked to him it's Boras hyping us up to his idiot bum buddy Heyman.

Chapman makes more sense the more i look at it. 3B is a wasteland. If he's open to coming back, figure it out. Most fans will hate it, but most fans are morons.

Sign a DH, ideally short term, which probably leaves out Soler, and focuses on JDM or Hoskins.

Then find the best LHH LF you can find for the lineup balance. Kepler? Joc? Yaz? Fraley? i dunno.

Jeez when did you become the voice of reason re Jays management…

Sign Chapman if there isn’t an enormous FA deal out there for him. He’s the same age Springer was when the Jays signed him and has a better track record of health. It would be another one of those deals where the last year or two is probably a write off, but so what?

JD Martinez or Hoskins for DH. Again, I don’t want Soler as he’s probably going to be a pumpkin in at least 2 of the 4 years he’ll get.

I’d also consider bringing back KK short term and seeing if there’s a trade market for Varsho. He’s only going to get worse, IMO. The goal should be not to have any sub-.300 OBPs in the starting lineup. Thats’s not exactly aiming high.

Yeah it will take some creativity to have a contender this year. If they just basically run it back, they’ll probably be worse.

bring back chappy belt KK keeps us about the same. as much reason to expect better as worse from the team as a whole.

but that also probably leaves us some space to make a good add or two on top of that.

They had 4 starters with over 160IP last year. Career years from Kikuchi and Bassit and a big bounce back from Berrios. When they gave up on Manoah, Ryu stepped back in and was better. I see that outcome as extremely unlikely to repeat itself.

Their scrubs even stepped up (Schneider, Clement, Horwitz, all good to great.) Even KK and Belt were basically best case scenario.

Vladdy could be a 6 WAR beast again and it might not even make up for the expected drop off from the other hitters, not to mention pitching.

Manoah and Tiedemann are as much upside as there is downside in the SP.

Some scrubs were good some were bad.

Vladdy, Kirk, Varsho were all way way under expectation.
