OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

TBH i like mattingly saying that. The last thing I want is this team (especially vladdy) trying to swing for the fences. I want them to concentrate on getting on base. The power is there and will come naturally if they focus more on patience imo.

What bothers me is that Schneider was preaching "damage damage damage" all spring and now the hitting supervisor (?) is already completely changing the messaging.
They were just saying that Mattingly wants them to focus on a particular part of the plate and pitches they can do damage on early in the count, which is exactly what they should be doing, and fits in with what Schneider said as well.

Hitting has been shit so far. But considering a 10-game road trip to start the season against 3 really good teams, a 4-6 start isn't the end of the world.

if you think it makes sense to write off any team that hasn't even played a home game yet, i don't know what else to tell you.
I mean, I know there's 150 games left, but I'd imagine this is the preview to the main attraction that is the rest of the season.

Which is the opposite of an attraction, obviously, and more of a repulsion.

Has this ever happened before without significant injury, where a guy goes from Cy Young calibre to not even professional calibre at any level over the course of a few months?
Manoah has been injured though. I suspect he’s still bull-headedly trying to pitch through shoulder and/or elbow soreness. Just because it doesn’t show up in an MRI doesn’t mean it won’t affect his delivery.

Only other explanation is that he somehow lost feel for his slider suddenly. The rest of his stuff is good, but not great.
