OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

regardless of what happens this is actually my favorite offensive game of the season.

steady consistent chipping away inning after inning.

Has this ever happened before without significant injury, where a guy goes from Cy Young calibre to not even professional calibre at any level over the course of a few months?

Don Mattingly for the second year in a row said he doesn't see us as a power hitting club, and said it would be good if we had 4-5 20 HR hitters.

This is the fucking guy this moron front office is trusting to handle the offense, and kind of explains the coward loser philosophy they have to the talent they bring in.

I have zero doubt they have been fucking around with Vlad trying to make him a "complete hitter" who doesn't sell out for power and have absolutely fucked him.

TBH i like mattingly saying that. The last thing I want is this team (especially vladdy) trying to swing for the fences. I want them to concentrate on getting on base. The power is there and will come naturally if they focus more on patience imo.

What bothers me is that Schneider was preaching "damage damage damage" all spring and now the hitting supervisor (?) is already completely changing the messaging.

I think this probably speaks to a big problem with the team - nobody knows who's in charge here. It's just an endless series of front office pieces and managers and supervisors and coaches - just a bunch of middle managers with no clear Boss Man with no clear messaging, and every one of them willing and able to pass the buck when it comes time for accountability.

They've decided that building a 200 million dollar version of the 2015 Royals is the way.

To be fair to the Royals i dont think they took a franchise slugger and changed/tinkered with him so much that he became basically impossible to extend, all in the name of trying to make him an all fields approach professional or some such nonsense.
