OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

The tigers look like the pit crew for the least inspired Nascar team in the sport.

Possibly the worst city connects since Wrigleyville or those Southside White Sox ones.

As nice of a story as Votto would be, the sensible move is to probably trade Turner, DFA Burgers and give those PA to Horwitz to see if he's anything.

The big hope is that Eddie looks at the money spent on this iteration of the club and sees 600+ million spent on a mediocre ballclub over the last 3 years, says fuck everything about this and does to Shapiro what Cleveland did. Put him in a ceremonial cage as the President of stuff and hires a new baseball guy.

My gut says he lets Shapiro stay on because Mark convinces him he can do a soft rebuild and lower payroll.

Nothing infuriates me more when this loser and his loser minion rave about our AAA numbers then mention a fucking guy like Lukes.

Make no mistake, our minor system sucks, i dont think there is a single difference maker down there.

We'll be at 9 years now though, a "soft rebuild" puts as us a 11+ years with only a few wildcard games to show for his body of work.

That's about the life expectancy of a top executive and the shit he had a great rep at (ballpark renos) is now done. That was his security blanket imo, that Eddie was spending half a billion on making the Dome viable for another 20-30 years of use and Mark was probably the right guy to be running that project.

What im expecting is Schneider fired very soon, like within weeks and Mattingly interim, because they dont actually think anything is wrong, but replacing Schneider might take some heat off themselves. Atkins trades Yimi, Kikuchi, Turner, Green etc for returns that uninspire because they care more about the talent being MLB ready or close than actually talented. If Atkins is allowed to trade Bo or Vlad good god help us all, it means Shapiro might stick with him, or Mark is making the deal and Shatkins just explains it incoherently afterwards and is fired later

Atkins goes end of the season and Shapiro replaces him with a different minion who uses buzz words like reset, retool. New guy trades at least one of Bo/Vlad ( probably Bo, but also probably both) for uninspiring returns ( think Gavin Lux at absolute best) and talks about the savings of not having to pay these guys massive contracts, then proceeds to throw 15-20M and varying 3-4 SP or 2.5 Win ceiling players. They will hype up the kids hitting well at AAA, but make no mistake, outside of Orelvis, none of them are probably anything.

Im optimistic Vlad might be here long term, just because, he seems to be really turning it around and looking like pandemic Vlad ( save for not getting it in the air yet, or pulling the ball. Thank you Donnie asshole), and also the return for 1-1.5 years of a 1B might be low enough where the team chooses to extend him instead. Bo, i think there will be enough offers where they move him

Rinse, repeat, fuck off.

entirely plausible. The only counter is again based on Shapiro being at the end of year 9 with his primary purpose having been fulfilled and Atkins and he being tied at the hip at this point because this has been his guy for 9 years and they're on their 3rd bench boss now.

There's no reason to have faith in Shapiro being the guy to turn Baseball Ops around, and there's his Cleveland story arc that would weigh heavy here. Mediocre baseball executive oversees fantastic overhaul of ballpark, gets moved out of baseball ops as soon as it's done and the team gets much better almost immediately. History repeats.

Hate to say it but Shapiro probably buys himself another 5 years by firing Atkins.

This is so backwards. Rogers made a huge stink about paying Masai during the last negotiations. The guy won a fucking championship for the city. Yet these dipshits have been here for 9 years and have ZERO playoff success. Not even a divisional round win.

Joke
