What is funny, people on this board went ballistic when 2 out of the 5 were acquired.

Criticizing people who criticized how this ballclub was built is probably, probably not the best angle of attack at the moment.

This year's problems on offense are mostly Bichette and Turner/Vogelbach, with a sprinkling of Springer, Kiermeier, and Kirk. And then for the team as a whole, it certainly doesn't help that the 2 arms just about everyone would have trusted before the season in Romano and Swanson have been absolutely dreadful too.

Love that the Atkins stans went from “he’s a good GM he built a great team” to “people who call the Jays the worst team in baseball history are dummies!”

When you know you’ve lost an argument but aren’t quite ready to admit it yet…

The Blue Jays are a good team that made the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years, and missed the other year by one game. That is just a fact.

I agree that expectations were raised last year and this year as this team as constructed should be contending right now. And while they made the playoffs last year, failed to advance. And this one's been a down year so far, obviously disappointing. I don't have a problem replacing Ross Atkins if you want to make the argument that they should be better. But this idea that they're a shit team that's never been good is just a stupid, disingenuous argument. As is embarrassing yourself by waving the white flag in May.

Especially when the team's stars have largely contributed to this record, namely Vladdy (first 6 weeks), Bo, Springer and we can even throw in Gausman and Romano. There are very few teams that are going to win massive amounts of games when all their stars are underperforming.

With the way the league has floundered as a whole it's fairly obvious that if Vladdy, Bo and Springer started the season playing even average baseball we'd be okay.

It's fair to say it was expected from Springer, not from the other two.

Having said that, team should be better, and given the payroll it falls on the architects, not the guys in the trenches

Hitting (especially power) is down around the league. So that does explain part of it, but within that context we have still underperformed. So it's fair to criticize both the players for not hitting, but also the team-wide approach.
