OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I agree that expectations were raised last year and this year as this team as constructed should be contending right now. And while they made the playoffs last year, failed to advance. And this one's been a down year so far, obviously disappointing. I don't have a problem replacing Ross Atkins if you want to make the argument that they should be better. But this idea that they're a shit team that's never been good is just a stupid, disingenuous argument. As is embarrassing yourself by waving the white flag in May.

Especially when the team's stars have largely contributed to this record, namely Vladdy (first 6 weeks), Bo, Springer and we can even throw in Gausman and Romano. There are very few teams that are going to win massive amounts of games when all their stars are underperforming.

Yeah, the third wild card leading to a best-of-3 series really throws some people off.

The Ricciardi-era Jays would have been in the hunt almost every year if there was a third wildcard. And imagine if Ricciardi had been able to run a top-5 payroll. GM for life.

Atkins has one second-place finish in 9 years here. And every other team in the AL East has won the division since Atkins took over a division-winning team. Every team except Toronto.

I'd have to go back and find the post from weeks ago, but I went through it a while back and I think we were in the bottom half of the league for playoff appearances in the Shatkins era
 
Also...the team's offered entertainment value is pretty much zero. I have pretty much no interest in watching this current collection of players. They're just boring junk. Vlad used to be a monster masher. Bo was a bit electric. They're crap now and everyone around them is average to poop. If I can't bring myself to watch a full game, there's something wrong with the product. It's totally lost its appeal.
