OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

They are losers who are actually outbidding teams but because of how they have bumblefucked the future of the org, players are leaving money on the table to go elsewhere.


Does it even matter which of these is true? I mean one means we will end up with Dylan Carlson and Trevor Williams on 1 year deals, the other mans we are giving 5 to Santander or Jack Flaherty.

I dunno which is worse.
 
At least if it's the pannicky one, maybe they overpay Vlad.

Also, i have at least some mild hope Eddie is embarrassed as fuck right now and terrified ( justly) that if Vlad walks the new stadium empties for years. This is where an owner who actually cares steps in, gets Vlad done, and fires clowns.

He's probbly a clown too though

Burnes was the last free agent that could’ve changed the perception of this offseason. They blew it. I do not want Santander for 3+ years when after year 1 we lose Bo and Vlad and have him as our “best hitter”. This management duo is getting embarrassed and hopefully the fans make that even more clear by not showing up next year. I usually go with friends and family to 5+ games per year, not this year. Zero.
 
Yup. Despite the constant bashing, they did build a good team that made the playoffs 3 out of 4 years, and missed the other by 1 game. Of course they shit the bed when they got there, but that's a different argument. Last year was awful but could be chalked up to whatever could go wrong, did go wrong.

I have no idea what Atkins is doing this offseason, though. It's pointless to keep getting fish on the hook if you don't reel any of them into the boat.

On one hand, it is a good idea only to give huge dollars to elite talent. But they couldn't get Ohtani or Soto, so at some point you have to pivot into some semblance of a Plan B. Signing Burnes and a bat, and re-upping Vladdy would have been a fine way to reallocate that money.

It's possible Burnes fucked us over, but it's also stupid to wait this long if he had no intention of signing here. Sometimes in free agency, you have to overpay. I don't think a $230-$250 contract (rumoured contract asks) is out of the question for him, and at the end of the day he signed for $210 which is a Ross Atkins fail.
