OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Ownership shouldn’t be giving a single dime to Shatkins. They should both be fired. Hand the reigns to a new regime. New guys should pay or trade Vlad and/or Bo. Based on that you either push more money into the team or you rebuild around new pieces.

Failure front office.

They are doing exactly what ownership wants them to do and sold as the vision for the team.

They are who we thought they were.

There is no bait on the hook , none of those players were coming and reporters just like spewing shit
I mean there's no need to be disingenuous, offering at least $650 million to Juan Soto is definitely putting bait on the hook, as is (reportedly) offering the most total dollars to both Burnes and Teoscar.

It's just that while Burnes was still available, the Jays having a good offseason was still possible.

They had zero chance of landing Soto , lets see if there is more bait for Santander a more logical acquisition

He hit 44 home runs last year with a 129 wRC+. He's been a pretty good power hitter for years now, so he could certainly help this team. Defense isn't great though, he's been playing RF and is probably a 1B now, though maybe he can handle LF for a couple of years.

But of course, just adding Santander and Gimenez is not enough. Haven't heard much about Bregman lately, and of course there could still be a trade or two, but it's not looking good right now.

yeah a career year at age 29 in which he was a good bat (~130wrc+) but not a great one.

much more likely he goes back to being his usual 120wrc+ self with no defense.

Has anybody actually reported that the jays offered the most to either guy?

Shouldn't this make ownership squirm and anxious to make a change?

You're offering the top dollars and guys aren't biting. Hmmmm. Maybe something is really fucking wrong for that to be happening?

The team is in a shit spot. Best players on last year of contract. Weak supporting cast of hitters. Dog shit bullpen. Aging rotation. A president on his last year.

Who the fuck is signing up for this shit?

These guys should’ve been fired years ago. Here we are looking at a really lengthy rebuild right in the face because of inept management.

The funny thing is, all those bids to Ohtani, Soto, Burnes etc. all WAY more likely to be successful if they would’ve just taken care of their own business and had Vladdy locked up. No free agent will sign here seeing him and Bo about to leave, no farm, no pen, the analytics and Berrios situation that was the talk of the league and what Chapman and Bassit have come out saying. Far cry from the once highly respected, deep offensive juggernauts that tempts every player to want to join…

So, any phrase including Jays and Strong interest should be laughed at immediately, but lets dig deeper at this one.

Gleyber was willing to take a 1 year deal, so, yeah, they like that.

Pre-Gimenez this is run of the mill meh player makes sense, whatever.

Post Gimenez it's all world stupid.
