OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

It's one thing to go out and try for him. But they need to read the room before doing moves like trading for more IAFA space. That deal should 100% not have been done until they have a firm agreement from him.

Now, not only do you lose on the player you want, you're stuck with some dead space for a player who's realistically not any better than Loperfido, and who has absolutely no upside. They could have just rolled up a bunch of 20$ bills and smoked them, at least that wouldn't cost the team towards the luxury tax limits.
 
Shatkins can absolutely be blamed for building a team that marquee free agents don't want to sign with, even when they offer the most money.

Very, very clearly players around the league don't view the organization the way the Shatkins defence force views it. They're a non playoff team whose 2 best players are a year away from walking in free agency. Spending 200+ million dollars to be an ~85 win team is some trick.

Kinda feels like Shatkins was used by Roki’s team to be the ideal smokescreen for having a deal already in place with the Dodgers…..to the point of being told he’d need that IAFA Space, so he went out and got it. Only for RS & the Dodgers to use that as evidence he was still deciding right up to the last minute.
 
What a stark difference from pre Shatkins or the start of that era when this team was so desirable for free agents, now we’re the laughing stock in the league and plan Z to these players. Vlad is definitely gone too

If this is the case, Shatkins looks even worse, more inept and feckless.
