OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Bregman has 210 career homers….would have 239 if he played all his games at home in Houston.

Would have 172 if he’d played every game at Skydome. (But ironically would have hit 29 last year with us, instead of his actual 26).

Doesn’t mean a whole lot, since no one plays all their games at home…..but just a little food for thought when thinking of the power numbers he’d have as a Blue Jay.

It does apply to pretty much every AL East park though… Tampa is the only park he’d have historically done better at than Toronto, and even that would fall short of his career numbers. (192)…..Baltimore (151) Red Sox (169) and Yanks (153) his particularly power drained due to park configurations.

Maybe keep that powder dry, and use it on Vlad, Bo and next years crop.

It did seem pretty clear that Alonso wanted to remain a Met the entire time, and obviously accepting a two year deal kinda demonstrates that…..have to think the Jays would have been fine giving him that kind of money for 3 years.

I’d hope they would, anyway.
There are reports we offered more.

Other than bregman i don't think there's a bat worth adding at this point. Give the internal options the chance now, like we should have last year instead of adding mediocre free agent bats.
I can see value in JDM off the bench as a Wagner friend.

Its less that i dont trust our kids, but i also dont trust our vets ( Kirk, Springer, Varsho, GImenez) might all be below average hitters. I also dont trust this team to remove a dogshit Clement for a AAA kid soon enough, they tend to give way to long leashes to guys they like ( Biggio)

Grichuk would have been an idea as well before he went back to Zona, someone who mashes LHP.

I do agree not to sign a vet bat just for the sake of it. No interest in a Verdugo or Moncada

Ward via trade? Robert? yes, and while Bregman isnt perfect he fits.

I can’t complain if someone takes less to stay with the team they love and have always played for…..we should all be so lucky to have our talent do that.

Good on the polar bear.
I was always skeptical that Cohen would let Alonso leave over 5, 10, 20M. If Alonso wanted to stay he was going to stay.

Word is we have 6 years out to Bregman but he is waiting on, well i have no idea. I think the Cubs or TIgers need him more ( Boston makes no sense)

eh signing the likes of Turner and Vogelbach last year instead of just letting a guy like Horwitz play was a backwards move.

We have even more horwitz-type borderline guys with good projections this year than we did last year (and last year's much less impressive group gave us Horwitz and Clement as pretty much good starter quality, which is pretty great).

Yeah it honestly seemed insane….when I quizzed my NY buddies, they said the only thing that made sense to them about it was maybe Cohen & co. had their sights on Vlad long term?

Which obviously you’d boot Alonso out the door for if you thought you had a shot…..so maybe these rumblings of a Vlad extension being close & Alonso signing are mildly linked even?

/conspiracy theory

Bregman to the Cubs just feels right…then again I guess I can picture him in a Tigers uni too. He’s kinda got that scrappy 80’s Tigers feel to him.

I think JD Martinez is a better idea than the likes of those bums, with the caveat that he's more or less only in vs LHP, and Wagner spells Ernie at 3B.

He's basically the only "bum" option im interested in. I much prefer Bregman or a trade.

Cubs feel like the overwealming favourites int he Central until the CIN/PIT kids take over, but i think they need one more piece to be considered a threat to NYM/LAD as a scrappy underdog in a playoff series.

Frankly i assumed we needed Alonso or someone of that ilk to get Max to agree to his last year here. So im still kind of optimistic the team has a plan A/B/C for an actually good bat, but after Bregman it kinda has to be via trade i think.

Jesus Sanchez of the Marlins, is an interesting one, as are Taylor Ward and Luis Robert.

If they sign Verdugo and i have to look at that face all year im going to be furious.

If they extend Vlad and stand pat they earn a B- for the offseason, if they dont extend Vlad it's still a fucking F

What’s the rumblings on Luis Robert?
He'll be traded.

No one is meeting the Sox price, and they think if they hold and he's healthy he can rebuild value and they can get closer to asking and they dont need to rush.

They aint wrong.

I dont think we have the farm to get a healthy Lou Rob.

Just say no to Verdugo. I do think Yoan Moncada is kind of interesting, some team will give him a shot and getting away from the White Sox could be good for him. So I wouldn't hate that, but Orelvis or Barger may be just as likely to take a step forward so we may be better off just giving them a look along with Clement.

Only way i want Moncada is if the deal is cheap enough to where you can DFA him without thinking about it if he's terrible.

These guys have a major issue blocking kids with absolute trash players, im not super keen on adding another one.

If they are to bring guys in i want them to be very good at the thing brought in for. JDM as a Lefty masher still probably ualifies and our bench bats are thin for RHH
