Agreed, i am more optimistic today than i was a month ago that they do it, and with Max here im more optimistic they will add a plus bat, be it Alonso, Bregman or a trade.I’ll be the first one on here saying I was wrong, apologies to Shatkins and give them all the praise if they can extend Vladdy, otherwise, they’re still incompetent in my books.

Yeah, like you could have had him for 300m if you did it a couple years ago. Now it's going to be 450 at least.Eh, extending Vlad shouldn't have been difficult. Throwing 400-500 million at him now when far less would have sufficed a few years ago isn't praise worthy.
Signing him now is the bare minimum needed to avoid clusterfuck disaster.
I was just thinking about this the other day: it would make soooo much sense if the Jays could convince Bo to play 3rd.So, the roster, especially the pitching is starting to take shape
SP-Gausman
SP-Berrios
SP- Scherzer
SP-Bassitt
SP-Francis
CL-Hoffman
RP- Green
RP- Garcia
RP- Sandlin
RP-Swanson
RP-Little
RP-Burr
RP -Yariel
Assuming Burr has options i'd like to see another LHRP added to the mix, as Little on his own isnt ideal, but i think if they stopped adding today, this would be fine. Minor league dudes like Nance/Lovelady i think would be next up. Certainly not against more minor league dudes
The rotation on paper can be very strong, but 4 of these dudes are at an age where health, and regression are real possibilities. The other dude is Bowden Francis. Internal options look paper think with names like Bloss/Kloffenstein/Macko as next dudes up. Regardless, if this works or not, i respect the avenue they chose, there is a real possibility these guys can be very good still.
SS-Bichette
1B-Guererro
LF-Santander
DH-Wagner/Alonso
C-Kirk
RF-Springer
CF-Varsho
3B-Clement
2B-Gimenez
C-Bethancourt/Heinemann
UTIL-Wagner/Jimenez
OF-Loperfido/Straw
OF-Schneider
The importance of another premier bat is paramount here. Wagner as a bench bat who spells some of the light htting INF vs RHP is very interesting. Starting DH? No thank you. I have no qualms with Clement and he can start as the opening day 3B if no Bregman is added, but really the moment any of Wagner/Orelvis/Barger/Jimenez show they are better suited for that job, he should lose it and be relegated back to the bench or White Sox. Loperfido v Straw is probably the battle for CF gig while Varsho is out, i'd probably prefer to give Loperfido reps to see if he is an OF4/Bench candidate over a Straw, but whatever. Schneider i think if not traded is entrenched as OF4 that gets starts against LHP, and like Clement he should be looking over his shoulder if Roden/Loperfido/Barger prove to be better options.
Just sign Alonso/Bregman or trade for Robert and this is a very good offseason if you extend Vlad
Its a nice idea, but it only works if Bo has already signed a deal to be paid like a SS. Moving to a less important position entering FA is probably a non starter, and it should be.I was just thinking about this the other day: it would make soooo much sense if the Jays could convince Bo to play 3rd.
Defence shouldn't be a problem there, and his bat plays. Move Gimenez over to SS and then have the R/L platoon of Wagner/Schneider at 2nd. Clement can then be moved to his true position of Super-utility infield guy, and then DH can be that big bat.
So something like:
3B - Bo
1B/DH - Vlad
LF - Tony Taters
1B/DH - Alonso
2B - Wagner/Schneider
C- Kirk
RF - Springer
CF - Varsho
SS - Gimenez
IN - Clement
C- Backup Catcher
OF - Loperfido
2B - Wagner/Schneider
Eh, i dont like Johnny but this sort of thing involves more than the manager.Sadly we have that bonehead of a manager still.
