OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I'm not trying to win internet points jerk off, and I could give zero fucks about how valid you or others think my fandom is. 46 years on the planet, and 43 since my first game at the Ex on the million degree aluminum bench seats. Snuck out of the house as a 13 yr old to take the bus and subway down from Rexdale to the Dome for the game 6 watch party to see the first title as live as I could. Picking up the paycheque from my part time job at 14-17 on Friday after school to rush down to the Dome and try to talk my way into the cheapest single I could get from the scalpers, missing the first inning or two because that just how scalpers roll if you're not buying a pair, and doing it every Friday night game I could all season. Motherfucker, I didn't leave them, they left me.
Preach!

Those "freeze or fry" aluminum benches at the Ex were the absolute worst.

I used to take a bus and Metro ride across town (75-90 minutes each way) to sit in a 3/4 empty Olympic Stadium by myself (because no one wanted to go to Expos games after Carter was traded)

The Dodgers ripped our hearts out in 1981 and, just like many here, we were crushed but felt optimistic for the following season. Then in 1982, St. Louis won the division. In 83, the Phillies. In 84, the Cubs (the fucking Cubs!) In 85 they traded Carter and the Cards won the division. Then the Mets in 86 with Carter win it all. Finally, in 87 we had a decent team again. Won 91 games and finished 3rd but were in the conversation. But then, nothing until 94 followed by the strike and the 95 fire sale.

We never recovered from 1981 and Jays fans won't recover from 2025. I still feel it every year on October 19th. and they'll feel it every November 1st. Yes, you have next season to look forward to, which is more than I'll ever have again, but don't kid yourself. This isn't like the 2014 Royals. This is more like the 75 or 78 Red Sox.

Or the 81 Expos.
