different argument though...tech advances have allowed producers to better address their customer's needs.
TV/Radio were basically guessing for the entire 20th century.... mainstreaming was the way to maximize profits, now niche can be uber profitable as well...so yesterday's niche can be tomorrow's mainstream
nah it's the actual argument - crime shows dominate TV in an amazing way. wasn't like that before.
Nothing sold newspapers like True Crime either.
True Crime dominates because it’s the perfect merger between popular scripted detective shows, but comparatively dirt cheap to make relative to them.
It’s a genre that’s always been enormously popular with the public as CH says….but in recent eras also became one of the cheapest to make/most profitable for television.
