OT: Vacations

The current plan is rent a car, and basically do a lap of the island over the course of 14-15 days. San Juan to Mayaguez, Mayaguez to Ponce, Ponce to Fajardo and then back to the airport from Fajardo. All details are currently negotiable.

Try to incorporate El Yunque if you like the rain forest type deal. I just love the smell of the air there. It's the little things. Not fancy, the observatory food is horrible but the people are awesome in PR. So genuine which is my flavor.

If you don't care for such things skip it but I think you'll see why I go back there often enough if you do go.

That's part of the Fajardo stretch of the trip I think, there's a few waterfalls I want shots of in the park.

The human mind is a weird place. I have a few deeply irrational things I just don't fuck with, and then some things that are far more likely to end me that I'm just not afraid of.

Very true.

I really have one fear and one fear only. Buried alive. That just freaks me the fuck out. Otherwise? Bring it. I've lived a good life and people think I'm nuts while sitting in an office 50 hours a week waiting to retire and take cruises.

Yeah I'm the crazy one.

I was lucky because I was filming a tv doc with some extreme traveller types — I remember needing about $1000 in vaccines (lots of weird shit in the jungle) being exhausted by 7pm and never feeling completely dry (humidity is otherworldly)

Once in a lifetime experience

I got into it — no choice — just focusing on the next step. I remember we were all warned about some poisonous snake with no cure… then coming across it in the wild and I barely flinched — I was too tired and thirsty to give a shit.

By the end of the week, I was used to the humidity and when some tv crew from Australia joined the trek, they were panic stricken, worried that they didn’t have enough water in their bottle to climb that last hill.

I was laughing on the inside.

Yup.

I live in the sub tropics. I know humidity. That doesn't deter me. It's horrible but I know how to deal with it. That's cool man. Great experience I'm sure.
