OT: Vacations

Depending on what you are planning on doing you may want to consider niagara on the lake for your accommodations, still close to the falls but calmer, good restaurants and vineyards.

Depending on train schedules you can always drive to burlington and then get on the train.

Where to stay in Niagara Falls: either on Niagara Falls on the Lake or my preferred spot which is the embassy hotels with fallsview. Being closer to the Falls means a bit of a walk to the Clifton Hill area though. Not sure how old your mom is and if that'd be too hard on her.

How to go downtown Toronto: take the Go train for sure. If you do decide to drive though, my preferred location is

40 York St
Toronto ON M5J 1S8

Cheaper and great location.

Porter's service just generally exceeds AC/WJ
gotta take this back. have outstanding compensation claims with both Porter and AC, for essentially the exact same sequence of events (delays due to mechanical issues on the plane).

AC has been really easy to deal with and just emailed me to confirm I'm entitled to compensation. Porter, despite having had my claim for over 30 days, has not even responded, and tried not to even accept the submission in the first place by gaslighting me and telling me I'm not entitled to compensation (multiple employees at the airport told me I was entitled, and actually recommended I keep my receipts for expenses).

so yeah, fuck Porter, for now.

I never ever drive downtown or to BMO. The Go is just so much better.
I'm often in Hamilton for work, so I fly into Pearson and then drive to the Hammer via 403/QEW. And there's always, always, always traffic. Sometimes its better, sometimes its worse, but always there. Good traffic means no periods of stop and go.

spending the summer in Balconville...any new shows streaming in July?

Thanks everyone for the great tips for my July Niagara vacation with day trip to HHOF -- definitely going to check into the GO train option, that sounds like the way to go. The schedule looks like it would work fine to drive Niagara to Burlington and pick up the train from there.

Only other time I visited TO (2003?) I was at a week-long conference in King City and drove downtown a couple times, one to visit HHOF + CN Tower and one for a Leafs-Habs pre-season game.

I've been in Portugal over a week and it's great. Visited Algarve region, then took the train to Lisbon, saw Sintra, then another train to Porto. Now off to Sao Miguel in the Azores.
Only disappointing part is the water is freezing here. Lake Ontario is warmer to swim in.
The crowds and boiling-hot weather have not applied here for a July (Although I did have 1 day in Lisbon that was crazy-hot).

I love Portugal. But yeah, it's weird you think it's going to be hot like Spain, but it's generally milder, and the waters are cold, especially in the north. But in July, that's probably fantastic.

Azores are beautiful as well. Lots of spots to hike to around the mountains, and some weird hot springs too that are fun. Enjoy!

If you start to hit Faro and closer to Spain, you can already feel the water getting warmer
