OT: Vacations

I figure some of their typhoon warnings are like some of our extreme storm warnings where all the schools close and all we get is 2 centimetres of snow

At the end of my trip, a major typhoon (one of the biggest in decades) foiled my plan to visit the remote island of Yakushima 😔

And definitely plan for getting sick there. Long flight, shit happens. Last time I was feverish and constipated for most of my trip. I remember finding a laxative and posting here while taking the biggest shit of my life at like 3am japan time. It was like 6 or 7 days of backup.

But you just pop tylenols, hope it kills the fever temporarily and carry on being a superspreader. Can't say it really ruined my experience, with the exception of eating while constipated as fuck. Was tough to truly enjoy the great cuisine in the last few days of backup.

Or...wear a mask while you fly, don't get sick and enjoy your vacation

I don’t mask when I fly (maybe I should) but I wash my hands like a maniac

Its a non negotiable mask environment for me, seen too many airflow studies about how easily shit circulates in planes now. Mask comes off to eat or drink and that's about it. I bought a flomask during covid that has a really comfortable silicone frame to it. Easy to wear for hours on end and barely even notice.

My favorite island.

You're going to love it.

Make sure to hit Crane Beach. Pink sands and beautiful turquoise water with awesome buoyancy to float on your back. The sand doesn't get hot on the feet either, amazes me every time.
+1 for Crane beach, won a 'breakfast in barbados trip' off a radio show to this place and recommend - be careful of jellyfish if there have been any recent storms
