OT: World Politics

I don't often get shocked by lof, but I have to admit the both sideism of equating both sides has shook me to my core. He can't actually believe this bit. I have recently taken to posting some examples of alt right threats of violence and dangerous rhetoric but it's all brushed off as "sorry I'm busy so I haven't looked into it" or "we already knew both sides had bad people, so what?", neither of which are addressing the point with the same level of rage that he has for the left about a dude whose main goal is to try to make shawarma's in his American city cost less money. The bias and delusion is wild.

Note: I don't really like Mamdani politically nor do I consider myself a classic "leftist" and most of the free Palestine endlessly protesting people are historically annoying to me. I am just pointing out the absurdity here.
You’ve grown into this habit of exaggerating everything and undertaking big leaps to get to your conclusions.

This story has been in the news just the past several days or so, and I’ve been underwater for the past week. What I did know about it on the surface of things turns out to be all I needed to know now that I looked into it a bit more. Again, there’s no debate here about whether the YR scum mean it or are dangerous or should be dealt with asap. I would hope that they’re in the process of identifying all of them and that they’ll be quickly dispatched from whatever positions they currently hold. Does anyone object to this? Does anything else need to be said other than to update on the fate of these people.

None of them is poised to become mayor of NY though and there’s obvious disagreement about whether this guy is actually a snake or not. That’s the subject of a conversation that’s ongoing.

Seems like you are just anti Palestine instead of actually caring about anti semitisim
Nonsense. This YR story to me is no different than hearing about the latest synagogue being graffitied with swastikas, or finding out that there’s a group chat between court clerks in the LA superior court where similar things were said. Unfortunately, it’s not news anymore when it happens all the time. The response to every such situation is, I hope they find the guys who did it, or if they already know then I hope they come down hard on them and it becomes public so that it follows them around.

This is daily routine shit these days. There’s no controversy in it.

Further, I think it’s hilarious that we want all attention on this fucking YR social group when we have actual obvious raging antisemites like Omar, Tlaib, Turner, AOC and others who are actually serving in govt and going against Israel and the Jews every chance they get. But no, this is only a Republican problem and it’s laughable to point to them, their voters, their sympathizers, or to be worried about Mamdani who thinks there’s no problem with globalizing the intifada, and I should be focusing ALL my attention on whatever some fucking waterboy for a Republican is saying in a group chat, when I imagine he’s already out of a job after the news came out.

This is obviously stupidity on the part of Vance, who is either trying to downplay what went on among the people involved for the sake of the overall group, or actually believes it’s just dumb shit talk that doesn’t pose a threat, and he’s wrong on both counts and should explicitly denounce it.
Can you comment on the quoted part below of the YR story, please!!
But let's be clear: the group chat includes a State Senator, a Trump Admin official, and multiple Republican staffers — and some of the worst comments came from folks associated with Mike Johnson, Elise Stefanik, and Mike Lawler.

The YR group is clearly in the Republican Party right now, in positions of power, in secret.

But the future mayor of NYC, with the nation's eyes trained on him, is the problem.

Also, I love that you think that the North American culture is so fragile that Sharia law is a given. I thought one of the major contributions that America has exported to the world IS its culture, but you know, no one actually likes it. lawl

Which part of what I said is unclear? If they’ve been identified, they should be gone. For good. Their existence doesn’t in any way mitigate the threat posed by Mamdani, whose position would be much more important than any of those others.

And North American culture isn’t so fragile. It’s being diluted down and drowned out, and the left is sadly the group that’s allowing it, even promoting it. We aren’t far behind Europe where Jews in the UK were just told to stay home and not attend a football game because they’d be in danger in Birmingham, where Muslims comprise a large part of the population.

Not sure when everyone is planning on waking up, but it better be soon.

You know who else is diluting the NA culture? The Right. They are lawless. Wake TF up.

So NA culture isn't fragile? Cool! Now, why are you worried if some Muslims immigrate here and integrate into this durable culture? You are just making more NAs, which is great! We all love being NAs! They should too, unless you really think it is fragile; then you should be upset at Trump and the GOP for dividing the country and weakening this fragile culture.

Integrate is good. But the issue is that many come over and don’t want to integrate. Far from it.

It’s already gotten to the point that being overtly Jewish outside your home is already a danger. And now just looking like a Jew comes with risks, as they just showed in the UK again yesterday. As I just experienced myself a couple times in the last few months.

First of all, Britain is their own thing. They have a history of crazy, violent soccer hooligans. I dont think anybody here would condone anything soccer hooligans do or have done - that includes antisemitic Muslim soccer hooligans.

Britain also has a huge far-right violence problem as well.

What we are trying to tell you though is that you are more likely to experience far-right violence in the states than far-left violence, the numbers bare that out.

Just focusing on the Muslim left (but really Sharia law seems far-right....) reads problematic at best, racist at worst.

Also, I am sorry that you had to experience antisemitism in 2025 in California. No one should have to go through that. We are here if you need to talk about it. Much love.

It’s not the Muslim left. They’re part of the left, just like shithead members of the Squad, self-hating Bernie Sanders, and others I’ve denounced in the past. The far right is also a major problem, with truly evil fucks like this Fuentes guy who is legitimately scary.

But it unfortunately does seem like the lax immigration policies that imported countless people into the west who don’t share any western values and instead actually hate the west. Just saw a video of a protest in Toronto the other day, I think, where the woman spearheading it was screaming, and getting the crowd to repeat, death to America, death to Canada, and death to Israel. These are people living and working in these countries, not in Gaza. It is absolutely, indefensibly, and undeniably insane.

Read this sentence and tell me you aren't completely biased. If you believe in and agree so much with right-wing bullshit, just admit so we can all move on. Those you listed have been advocating for Palestinian refugees, that's it, that's all, full stop. This war has been completely over the top from what was necessary. TWO YEARS!! Yet you think someone as thoughtful as AOC is worse than these jackasses saying they really like Adolf Hitler. Why is that LOF, is it because when he took over the trains ran on time? Meanwhile these people you listed would never ever say or even think such a thought.

I understand your bias to a certain extent - yes antisemitism is evil and stupid and should not be allowed to fester - but you really need to stop focusing on propaganda. And understand and acknowledge that most people don't think "Free Palestine" means what you think it means. We explained that to you already.

A lot of antisemitism currently happening is because of the actions of Netanyahu and Israel. You don't have to like it or agree with it, but you should at least understand it. The fact that people feel sorry for Palestinians and want them to have food, water and a place to sleep is not antisemitism.

I’m a big boy and can handle it just fine, but this is the new reality. Back when they’d teach us about the holocaust in grade school, even though the years since the holocaust and then was the same as the years since school and now, the history lessons felt so distant, and could only be absorbed to a certain extent since the world seemed past all that in day to day western life. And I think that same distance exists for non-Jewish westerners who just can’t absorb the risk and danger and what all this public disturbance and strife signals for the years ahead. The shit that is happening out there is completely paralleling what happened in the years leading up to nazi germany.

Suffice it to say you’re dead wrong and living on another planet. The same planet that Van Jones described in the video I posted, where they did their job on you with endless dead Palestinian baby posts and you’re just incapable of understanding anything else. And I know you think the same about me on the other end, and that’s fine.

And I should just clarify, when I talk about the dangers ahead, I’m not solely focused on the risk to Jews. It’s a threat to western values as a whole, and the Jews are just the easy target focal point, and the first ones to get it, but it’s a risk for anyone who subscribes to the traditional world order we grew up in and got accustomed to, and now totally take for granted.

Yes we ALL agree! Trump and his posse are as big a threat to the west as Hitler was to Europe.
