OT: World Politics

We should have dismissed his ideas because his opinions on Israel are moronic.

Just to be a bro though...

"The Palestinians turned down a state in...."

1937 - The Peel Commission: Ehhhh...Israel also turned down that deal.

1947 - UN Partition plan: They weren't really offered statehood other than on paper. The understanding at the time was that there was no local governing mechanism that the Palestinians could put together in the timeframe discussed in the negotiations. The expectations of observers at the time was that this would lead to Palestinian lands slowly (or not slowly) absorbed by it's neighbours, most notably Jordan. So they turned it down.

A war did follow, but an important piece of context here is that Zionist groups were in a defacto war with the British army that was there as a peacekeeping force between 1945-1947, killing over 100 brits. Zionists weren't just peacefully chilling, waiting for this legal process of statehood to sort itself out, they were already shooting.

1967 - 6 Day War negotations: There was no Palestinian organization to negotiate with at the time, no one to say yes or no to any offer. With that said, no offer was made as part of the ceasefire. No statehood, no defined borders, nada. This is pure fiction.

2000 - Camp David: Yes, an offer was declined. The Palestinians wanted 1967 borders, the Israeli offered turned the West Bank into swiss cheese. They declined. Show me a nation state with borders that look like this:

I could go on, but you're right, we don't have to call him a pedo to prove that he's wrong on this.

To be clear, everyone is a total dummy here for wasting their lives trading keystrokes with strangers.

After I do it, every single time, I'm like, what was the fucking point of that? What value did that bring to my life? Zero.

Ok @LeafOfFaith this is your chance. Prove them wrong if you can! Please don't use Facebook video.

I can start you off. What do you think was happening in early 1940's in the world? And was there an immigration cap? Hmmmmm......

I know this one...

The nazis were exterminating anyone they didn't like on an industrial scale. The jewish people were absolutely right to want a state and in the end, the acts of violence (and yes, terrorism) they committed to get it have turned out to be absolutely worth it.

Pointing out that truth would not make my point re: 1947 incorrect though.

It for sure was going to get us the cup.
Being overly political is gay and ruins too many people's mental health. Worry about your own life and getting yourself ahead and chillax, no matter how hard it may seem. And continue to rage post about the Leafs with us internet strangers. 💪

Oh, it's the gayest, which is why I'm not devouring the political stuff like the rest of you do all day long, and am adrift in the middle of the two extremes as a moderate anyway. The Israel and radical islam stuff are different, and I don't know why I feel like maybe some of the content would turn total leftists with completely contrary algo content slightly in a different direction, but I should accept it as hopeless and save myself the trouble. I don't do any posting on social media or other message boards or anything, so it's only this, which is such a bad use of time. One of these days I'll gain the discipline to cut it off.

Pretty sure I first joined this group to talk about the Brian Leetch trade.

Mine was July 1st, UFA day.

A friend of mine kept showing up with these mixtapes no one else in our group had even heard of (most notable was like early, early Eminem). I finally got him to crack and tell me where he kept finding them, and it was on hiphop message boards. I became a regular on UGHH (it was still very much you had to know someone who knew someone who would give you access to a FTP site type shit back then) to eventually get the hook up, and posting just becomes a habit. A couple years after that it was July 1 and trying to find out who we would sign but our satelite was down, so I had a thought and searched "Toronto Maple Leafs message board" assuming that there were people out there at least as demented as I was about my hockey team. I forget if it was hockeyboards or fanhome...whatever was around 2000ish.

They committed terrorism to save more Jews from the ovens. There was an immigration cap instituted by the British on the behalf of the Palestinians and obviously the Zionist Jews were desperate.

Btw, here is the Palestinian leader at the time

Interesting you left this part out:

The Palestinian opposition culminated in the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine, a deadly civil conflict that saw the deaths of nearly 5,000 Palestinian Arabs and 500 Jews and drove much of the Palestinian political leadership, including Amin al-Husseini, leader of the Arab Higher Committee, into exile. Britain also reduced Jewish immigration in response to the violence, as legislated by the 1939 White Paper.
