Regarding Erdogan: It's not that I trust him to do anything particularly positive or meaningful. It's just the statement he makes by feeling this is a necessary thing to say publicly.

For both domestic and international reasons, he sees it necessary to show support for Ukraine. That's important, even if his support his less enthusiastic behind closed doors.
