OT: World Politics

It's turned into it's own mini propaganda war. There are photos on russian social media showing dead Free Russia soliders wearing Ukie uniforms and destroyed equipment similar to what was used in the raid. But the Russian Volunteer Corps is denying that's them, claims they're wearing an entirely different camo pattern than is seen in the russian social media images and have sustained no losses so far.

I mean this has gotta be considered a huge win for the Ukrainians regardless of what or whom you believe at this point.

All Russian energy/effort focussed on the RVC are resources not devoted to the upcoming counteroffensive.

Would be interesting to see what would happen if partisans took a bite out of Belarus. Of course, there are already Russian troops there to keep them in line…

I don’t have the emotional or mental capacity to do twitter or telegram.
I rely on y’all for Uki news.
what’s been happening beyond what the BBC is telling me?

Not a lot really.

There's a few hot spots up and down the line but they're spread out. Mostly bakhmut still, with Wagner allegedly pulling out soon after having taken most of the town, but the ukies reclaiming a lot of the flanks and making the idea of holding bakhmut much dicier for the Russians.

The only other tactical developments over the last few weeks is ukie improvement in anti air defending significantly limiting the damage done by missile and drone attacks and the increase in ukie missile attacks on Russian military targets. This is probably future mission shaping. Taking out weapons depots, command posts and most recently targeting barracks that Russian pilots are staying in.

Also...lol...the Belgorod raid and of course the F16 approval from the US but I don't expect that to start making a difference for 4-6 months

thanks.
I’m anxious to see how they do once they have more gear. The f16 news is huge. Perhaps since we’ve ordered F35’s Canada can send a few birds too?

F16s are unlikely to make any impact until September at the earliest.

Generally seems like Russia’s offensive activities have more or less dried up too.

Ukrainians have been making gains around the flanks of Bakhmut too.

thanks.

F16's are massive, only question is how much of the donbas is relatively safe combat space. If Russia maintains solid AA over the region, the F16s will mostly be useful for launching air to surface stuff from safely back of the front.

If they can operate near the front though....Jesus, lights out.

It's not. Its more of a harbinger of future doom than anything else imo. Its over water rights. Get ready for a generate of water wars starting in the most arid regions. This might not pop off, but its a sign of what type of tensions we're going to see over the next 30 yrs
